When 2x Academy Award-winner Ben Affleck was first cast as Bruce Wayne, the Batman, in Warner Bros.' Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, many fans were up in arms with the casting choice. However, after watching him in action last week in the highly controversial and critically panned Zack Snyder-directed film, fans found some solace in his performance and were fairly unanimous in declaring him the best live-action Batman to ever grace the silver screen.
It's been rumored ever since Affleck signed on that a solo Batman movie, tentatively titled The Batman, was definitely in the works with Affleck collaborating with DC Comics CCO Geoff Johns on the script, but an expected release date and/or any details on the plot, outside of it being possibly based on the Batman: Under The Red Hood story arc, were few and far between.
The Hollywood Reporter, in an interview with Ari Emanuel and Patrick Whitesell, the co-CEOs of William Morris Endeavor (WME), Affleck's talent agency, have learned that in addition to being signed on for two Justice League films, Affleck has already finished a script for an yet-to-be announced solo Batman feature: "He's contracted to do at least Justice League One and Two, so at least three times wearing the cape, there's a script that he's written that is a really cool [Batman] idea, so that's out there as an option." Whitesell later added that Affleck would also be reprising his role for a cameo in the David Ayer-directed Suicide Squad, which is due out this August.
