Gary Oldman's Advice To J.K. Simmons About Playing Commissioner Gordon In JUSTICE LEAGUE

The Dark Knight trilogy's Gary Oldman shares the advice he'd give to J.K. Simmons about playing Commissioner Gordon. What role do you see Gordon playing in Zack Snyder's Justice League Part One?

Gary Oldman was recently asked by Yahoo about the advice he'd give to J.K. Simmons, who will follow in Oldman's footsteps as the next actor to play Commissioner Gordon in Zack Snyder's Justice League Part One.  Said Oldman, "The thing you’ve just got to get used to with Gordon is he’s a really sound detective, first of all.  And he’s really incorruptible, which is a kind of wonderful quality to play and sort of, like, true blue.  He’s like a Watson, oddly.  He’s sort of like Watson to Sherlock, is Gordon to Batman."

At the moment, the DCEU news cycle is still firmly entrenched in the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice circuit, even though Wonder Woman, Justice League Part One and Suicide Squad (reshoots) are all filming right now. As such, little is known about what role Gordon will play in Justice League.  Could this actually serves as a small victory for Warner Bros. as they can use the attention currently being given to Dawn of Justice as a means to keep details on thier other projects wrapped in secrecy?  So far, there's been lots of conjecture and hearsay about the future of DC Films but nothing in the way of concrete facts.

The perfect Gordon.

@Yaf - Sound detective yet he didn't know Batman was Bruce Wayne. I for sure though he would figure out after the Joker interrogation scene when he asked who Batman was going after and he yelled, "Rachel!".

@Yaf - really? I thought Gary was the perfect Gordon...I've seen this dude on too many cheesy small screen crime dramas to take seriously

Hey Gordon, so you keep the Batsignal on top of the GCPD right? Well why in BvS is it on top of an abandoned building? Did you move it? Does the state just not want to put money into the GCPD since you got a 6 foot Bat stopping crime?
ShadowlordSavage
ShadowlordSavage - 4/9/2016, 3:09 PM
@LEVITIKUZ - Gordon is retired by the time of BvS, Batman probably moved it himself.

@ShadowlordSavage -

Ok so Gordon's retired and Batman moved it.

Explain this scene

"Next time they shine your light in the sky. Don't go to it."

Who's lighting the Batsignal if Batman moved it and Gordon's retired?
ShadowlordSavage
ShadowlordSavage - 4/9/2016, 3:20 PM
@LEVITIKUZ - Whoever replaced Gordon or maybe Gordon operates it from the old building. We won't know until JL ,but from what I've read Gordon is retired..

@LEVITIKUZ - ummmm it isnt known if gordon is retired....

The cops or gordon were probably using the signal for batman. Then in the end batman takes the signal to a SECLUDED area (abandoned port) as he states in the movie for his fight with superman. Batman is actually trying to keep civilians safe by not fighting in the middle of gotham with superman......

I swear its like people dont watch the movie or want every detail spoon fed to them.

@LEVITIKUZ - Gordon was there in that building the whole time you just didn't see him. You will see his corpse in the R rated cut.

@LEVITIKUZ - Right, cause Superman is a Batman expert. :p Supes doesn't know squat about Batman other than the fact that he brands criminals and has been in Gotham for awhile. Other than that, nada. Lol.

Strictly in the context of the movie, Batman can be operating it himself to intimidate the criminals, and then later to attract Superman's attention. Not that big a deal.

@LEVITIKUZ -

There are 2 Bat Signals, and Batman moved one to an abandoned building to avoid collateral damage and casualties. Bruce Wayne/Bats can definitely afford and assemble a Bat Signal, he assembled all of the other booby traps laid in pace for Supes

The Bat signal was part of Batman's plan to lure Superman in, that's also why he set up all of the traps, etc, etc....

Which also completely fits with Batman's character.

But keep doing your thing

2 Bat Signals? I don't get it?

Yes or no. Was any of that shown in the film?

The answer is no because this movie was directed by a dumbass.

spideyfan77 - 4/9/2016, 3:27 PM
@Castiglione - thank you lol

It was clear batman was using that to get superman to come to him especially when superman says tht line about the signal earlier.

Plus batman was trying to keep the fight contained and in a area with no civilians.
LEVITIKUZ
LEVITIKUZ - 4/9/2016, 3:28 PM
@spideyfan77 - How bout instead of having Batfleck do his crossfit work out (because working out will really help you fight Superman), you [frick]ing show this stuff in the film?
Castiglione
Castiglione - 4/9/2016, 3:29 PM
@LEVITIKUZ -

Kind of, yes, it was. Batman was pulling the tarp off the signal after he put it in place. I don't see why it's so hard to think Batman, a tactical genius, chose to put a Bat Signal on the roof after assembling and building everything else involved in and used in that fight.

But, if that's your major concern, I don't know how you enjoy movies in general.

Castiglione
Castiglione - 4/9/2016, 3:30 PM
@spideyfan77 - Exactly.

This is what they do man, especially Levi, I've seen it repetitively.

spideyfan77
spideyfan77 - 4/9/2016, 3:34 PM
@LEVITIKUZ - have you seen this movie?

1. How heavy do you think that suit is? Especially to fight in....

2. Once batman shot the kryptonite grenade at superman, he became completely vunerable. Thats why batmans punches actually hurt him a lot and superman got destroyed. Once supes got his powers back then u notice that batman couldnt punch him. So ya batmans strength did matter.....

3. I prefer movies that require you to actually think and not spoon feed the entire movie and every scene but whatever floats your boat
ShadowlordSavage
ShadowlordSavage - 4/9/2016, 3:37 PM
@MosquitoFarmer - Never said it was just responding to Levitikuz.
Castiglione
Castiglione - 4/9/2016, 3:43 PM
@spideyfan77 -

Exactly, haha.

Batman trained for the fight, plus Batman maintains a strict schedule to keep/maintain his strength and agility, and peak human conditioning. That workout was most likely just part of his normal training routine.

LEVITIKUZ
LEVITIKUZ - 4/9/2016, 3:44 PM
@Castiglione - But we are never told that in the film. Showing Batman put the signal on a building in a 5 second shot and a montage of the traps fixes all the problems I have.

That's not being spoon feed. That's good storytelling that shows us Batman prepping and his tactics instead of doing cross fit training because him being jacked up with help fight Superman.

And no, my major concern is who the [frick] let Zack Snyder direct the film because all the problems go back to him.
Castiglione
Castiglione - 4/9/2016, 3:46 PM
@LEVITIKUZ -

Batman is just a man, the more Bruce trained, and the better shape he was in, the more damage he could do to Supes once he was under the influence of Kryptonite.

Batman was training to fight Superman after he shot him with the Kryptonite.

That's simple logic.

If a martial artists trains before a fight, he will do more damage and fight better than if he didn't train

@LEVITIKUZ -

spideyfan77
spideyfan77 - 4/9/2016, 3:52 PM
@LEVITIKUZ - but they did show him prepare.....they showed u him making the spear. Then place the spear in the building

Plus it was way cooler seeing superman walk into the fight and then showing the audience that yeah batman has all these traps all ready for him and then basically realizing that this fight is exactly how batman saw it would go and was planned for it. Realizing that when your watching the fight is wayy better than knowing every part of the fight before its gonna happen
