GOTHAM Season 3 Is Recasting 'Poison Ivy'

A few days back, we received word that the third season of Gotham was in the process of casting a young villainess "who uses her sexuality to entrap men" and now we may have a beat on exactly which villainess.

TV Line has learned that the recent Gotham casting call was for Poison Ivy, who will be receiving a major overhaul when the show returns this fall. Clare Foley, the young actress who played the part of Ivy Pepper in nine episodes scattered throughout the past two seasons, will not return for the upcoming third season and the now-series regular role is currently in the midst of being recast with an actress in her late teens, which will accelerate Ivy's path into embracing her true eco-terrorist roots.

Whether or not the new actress will assume the role of Ivy Pepper or whether she'll play Pamela Isley, the true alter-ego of the popular Batman villain, is yet-to-be seen, but the former seems more likely at the moment.

So, what do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts below!

The stakes are higher than ever as Gotham explores the origin stories of some of the most ambitious and depraved Super Villains, including The Riddler, The Joker and Mr. Freeze, and Bruce Wayne uncovers more secrets from his father’s past.

Gotham features:
Ben McKenzie as James Gordon
Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock
David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne
Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth
Morena Baccarin as Leslie Thompkins
Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot
Erin Richards as Barbara Kean
Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle
Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma
Chris Chalk as Lucius Fox
Drew Powell as Butch Gilzean
Nicholas D'Agosto as Harvey Dent
James Frain as Theo Galavan
Jessica Lucas as Tabitha Galavan
Michael Chiklis as Nathaniel Barnes

Kill this [frick]ing show!

Dammit. I don't know what's worse: the horrible story inaccuracies of Gotham or the awful characterization of Batman in the Snyderverse.

We're not going to be getting a good Batman live action adaption for a long time, if the recent entries are of any indication.

@BatmanHeisenberg - what awful characterization of Batman in the Snyderverse?
BatmanHeisenberg
BatmanHeisenberg - 6/13/2016, 2:56 PM
@Beetleborg - He kills and he drinks, two things comic Batman would never do.
Beetleborg
Beetleborg - 6/13/2016, 3:02 PM
@BatmanHeisenberg - which comic book batman? its a long history and he's done both
Beetleborg
Beetleborg - 6/13/2016, 3:06 PM
@BatmanHeisenberg - when did he drink in BvS?
BatmanHeisenberg
BatmanHeisenberg - 6/13/2016, 3:08 PM
@Beetleborg - He killed in his first year, and this was later retconned out of existence almost immediately. Since then, who has he killed? Really, in main continuity, he killed Darkseid, and this was to save the planet, and it was something he didn't take lightly like Batfleck.

Every other instance has been retconned out of existence. So please, tell me, when has Batman actually killed, in main continuity, and with the exception of Darkseid, has it stayed? I'll wait.
BatmanHeisenberg
BatmanHeisenberg - 6/13/2016, 3:09 PM
@Beetleborg - The one where he was at his lake house, and Alfred noted how he has consumed most of the wine cellar.
Beetleborg
Beetleborg - 6/13/2016, 3:12 PM
@BatmanHeisenberg - why does it have to be in main continuity? why does that matter? Comic book writers get to do their own thing with characters, why can't the movie creators?
Beetleborg
Beetleborg - 6/13/2016, 3:14 PM
@BatmanHeisenberg - The whole non drinking thing is for peak human physical condition, if he's retired why would he need to not drink/be in peak physical condition. That's why their is a training sequence because he's out of peak condition. It's like any athlete who cut things out when they were competing

@BatmanHeisenberg - He'skilled The Joker multiple times in continuity. Yes he keeps coming back, but Batman is either directly or indirectly responsible for most of his deaths.

@BatmanHeisenberg - He's killed, and he's drank.

I didn't like the careless killing either, the drinking is whatever, but you can't deny he's done both in comics since his inception. And technically, it's all considered canon now, retcons not withstanding.

But…Gotham is far, far worse than any type of characterization of anything.

@Beetleborg - You're missing the point. The only times Batman has killed rampantly is obscure out-of-continuity stores no one cares about. Snyder is free to do with the DC characters whatever he wants. But that doesn't mean it is not to be criticized.

When Marvel makes a major deviation in their characters in the movies, people talk about it. The Mandarin, Ultron, Whiplash etc. were all heavily scrutinized upon release, and continue to be. And they should be talked about.

Time and time again, in my opinion, comic accuracy has proven to be one of the best things a movie or tv show can do. The Dark Knight trilogy, the first two Superman movies, the first two Spider-Man movies and most Marvel movies and tv shows are the defining parts of the comic book adaptation pantheon, and guess what? They all happen to be the most comic accurate! It, to me, shows me that sometimes staying close is better than heavily deviating.

I grew up with DC Comics (and Marvel too!!), and I always wanted to see a comic accurate DC movie universe. Marvel got their's, and I feel left out when Snyder seems to get the visual flair of comics and characters, but misses out on the character motivations and what not. It feels disingenuous to the characters.

Again, to reiterate, Snyder, WB and DC can do whatever they like. They are not beholden to the source whatsoever. I just feel that when it's been proven SO CONSISTENTLY that comic accuracy tends to be the better route to take, it might be the right path for people (not) currently doing that.

@Beetleborg - He's clearly not retired in the film.

@AMrSundayGirl58 - Tell me, which times, besides The Killing Joke (and even then, he came back almost immediately!).
BatmanHeisenberg
BatmanHeisenberg - 6/13/2016, 3:28 PM
@DTor91 - By your logic, Marvel should have made Cap Nomad from the beginning since it's "happened before".
Django79
Django79 - 6/13/2016, 3:41 PM
@BatmanHeisenberg - idk if Nolan's trilogy is the best example of comic accuracy. He took a lot of liberties.
Beetleborg
Beetleborg - 6/13/2016, 3:43 PM
@BatmanHeisenberg - Batman characterization isn't a major deviation. The killing aspect is a change but overall his characterization isn't wholly different from the comics. Ultron, Mandarin were major deviations, idk much about Whiplash.

I know this next part will probably get hate but who knows if anyone actually died? It is hard to believe that they wouldn't from some of the stuff that he did but it is a comic book movie after all and he is one of the most intelligent people in the universe, as well as a master planner. And in typical movie fashion we don't see anyone die, so are they really dead?
Beetleborg
Beetleborg - 6/13/2016, 3:47 PM
@BatmanHeisenberg - comic book accuracy isn't this huge important thing as people seem to think it is after Deadpool. Deadpool's main component of the success wasn't the accuracy it was the entertainment/humor. Which is why Deadpool is popular in the comics. The most popular versions of characters weren't the most comic accurate things. Look at Nolan's batman. It's about the entertainment of those movies
BatmanHeisenberg
BatmanHeisenberg - 6/13/2016, 3:47 PM
@Django79 - Sure, it did, that will happen. But story wise, and Batman wise, it was extremely accurate.
Beetleborg
Beetleborg - 6/13/2016, 3:50 PM
@BatmanHeisenberg - it's not that they should or shouldn't have, its that they could have and it wouldn't be some unprecedented thing to the comics
BatmanHeisenberg
BatmanHeisenberg - 6/13/2016, 3:53 PM
@Beetleborg - But it absolutely is. It's like making Superman all mopey and sad (oh shit, Snyder did that) or making Tony Stark a friend of the Mandarin. Him not killing is SUCH an inherent part of his character. Sure, you bring up extremely obscure times he did it, but as a mainstay, him retaining a no-kill rule is what keeps him sane, and is an absolutely essential part of the Batman canon.

Snyder said he killed.
Beetleborg
Beetleborg - 6/13/2016, 3:53 PM
@BatmanHeisenberg -they kinda [frick]ed over batman as far as his abilities go in Nolan's movies
BatmanHeisenberg
BatmanHeisenberg - 6/13/2016, 3:56 PM
@Beetleborg - Oh, but it is. Want to know why it had so much entertainment and humor? It followed the comics. It adapted the character of Wade SO WELL that it was great.

The comics that have consistently done well but retained the same character more or less should be a filmmaker's GOSPEL. Not something they actively try and avoid to put in their "vision".
BatmanHeisenberg
BatmanHeisenberg - 6/13/2016, 3:57 PM
@Beetleborg - Not perfect in any way, but they kept close to the Batman character. The world was different, his abilities were different, but he was still BATMAN.
Beetleborg
Beetleborg - 6/13/2016, 4:01 PM
@BatmanHeisenberg - I know snyder said he killed but there is a reason the studio didn't let him show it. Maybe the studio doesn't think or want to make it so any of those guys actually died.

Superman is almost always sad but not usually visibly. Especially any storyline when he is just starting out. He always talks about his loneliness etc.

The mopeyness in this is human reaction to his situation in the story. Imagine if no matter what you did, despite your best intentions/efforts, they want you burned at the stake for it.

One of Clark/Superman's greatest aspects is that even with his power, his alien nature, he is still very much a human.
