Kevin Smith Confirms Geoff Johns And Ben Affleck Working On BATMAN Movie Script

The critics may not have loved Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but they certainly loved Ben Affleck and his portrayal of the Dark Knight. Both fans and critics alike have declared Affleck as the "definitive" Batman and have been clamoring for Warner Bros. and DC to announce a Ben Affleck (hopefully directed) Batman film. It was recently announced that two new upcoming DC Films were added onto the official slate, but what they are remain a mystery.

There's no doubt that one of the new films added to the slate is a Batman solo film, and with recent news of Ben Affleck having already written a draft for the film and working with DC
Comics' CCO Geoff Johns, it's only a matter of time until they reveal that the actor/director will be gearing up to take on some of Gotham's thugs.

In his latest podcast of Fat man on Batman, Kevin Smith has confirmed that both Geoff Johns and Ben Affleck have been working on a script for the solo Batman film. "He's been working on a solo script with Geoff Johns as well," revealed Smith. "Last conversation I had with Geoff Johns I was like are you working on it? and he said yeah. I said what's it like man, how do you co-write with someone? and he's going we just break it up, he takes halves and I take halves and then we write, and then we switch material, and then he goes over mine and I go over his. That sounds so f***ing fun man."

Are you excited to see Ben Affleck in a Batman solo film?

How do 2 people write separate halves of a script lol

@jamesdnyc - It does seem a little weird and would probably mean a tonal change halfway through the movie. But I trust Affleck way more than I trust Snyder so we'll see.

@Kurban -Affleck is a talented guy who has been in the industry forever... but for two people to write separate halves and switch seems silly how do you know where to go with the second half without knowing what happens in the first, it would make more sense for 1 to write a whole script and the other to go though and make changes

@jamesdnyc - He and Chris Terrio did the same thing for ARGO, and he did the same with Matt Damon for Good Will Hunting. They may be weird, but Affleck's methods seem to work.

@jamesdnyc - I don't want to judge you too harshly, but you have to know that they do the story outline together first, so all the beats are predetermined. Then they split sections, then switch, and meet frequently to make sure there's continuity and logic. I mean...come on.

At this point WB just need to announce it. Unless they are waiting to announce it at Comic Con.
