RUMOR: THE BATMAN Unlikely To Adapt "Under The Red Hood" But We Will See LOTS Of Other Villains

According to a new report, it's unlikely that we'll see The Dark Knight taking on Jason Todd/Red Hood in Ben Affleck's The Batman, but there's some very good villain news to make up for the bad...

Past rumours have pointed to The Batman (that's still not the official title, but really should be) being an adaptation of "Under the Red Hood", a story which saw Jason Todd return to Gotham City as a Punisher like vigilante intent on bringing down both the Dark Knight and The Joker. However, with the similarities that storyline has to Marvel's whole Bucky/The Winter Soldier situation and the fact that it's already been adapted in both an animated movie and video game, could the big screen be that tale's next destination? After all, Batman v Superman did seem to hint at that being the case!

Well, Birth.Movies.Death reports that "Under the Red Hood" isn't the plan, but we are going to see plenty of the other members of Batman's rogues gallery in the movie which is being co-written and directed by Ben Affleck. In fact, "It's going to be crammed with Bat villains, which means that just about every major bad guy you've ever wanted to see in a movie will be in this movie. According to my sources Affleck and Geoff Johns, who has been working with him on the film, want to make the definitive Batman film. They want to tell the ultimate Batman story, and to do so they're going to bring in all the big guns. They're going to have a big, sprawling Bat universe already in place."

While many of those bad guys will no doubt make only very minor appearances, this is an interesting direction to take things in if true. Seeing Batman going up against several of his most well known villains (many of whom have yet to reach the big screen) would certainly be a lot of fun, but that whole Jason Todd storyline would make for a great movie...what do you guys think? I'm all for DCEU Battfleck directing and Batman-ing, but red hood should not be the first movie. Establish a bat universe, plant the notion of previous robin's existing, maybe we meet nightwing, then go balls to the wall for the sequel with Red Hood.

Imagine Cap 2: Winter Soldier, but more mysterious and darker

I dont really want this to happen.
Yeah, the animated movie was cool, but in the comics, Jason Todd came back because of the success of The winther soldier stroryline by ed brubaker in the comics, and also Marvel did the movie first.
So general audiences are gonna think that DC is riping off marvel by the whole "resurrecting the sidekick" thing , and heck, its true

@NicolausCopernicus - Wrong. Both stories happened around the same time.

Just like Cap and Batman died around the same time.
Just like Cap and Batman fought their way back to life by fighting back through time, uh, at the same time.

Sometimes Marvel and DC sync up that way. Kinda like Captain America: Civil War and BvS essentially telling the same story.

@Battabing - True, but the fact is that Marvel did the movie adaptation first sadly

@NicolausCopernicus - Actually, the two stories were published simultaneously!

@Battabing - CA:CW was a case of Marvel ripping off BvS's plot AND release date! Marvel didn't want to be outshined by DC!

The ultimate Batman movie sounds great to me. Something I've long wanted. I just hope it's not part of the DC throwing everything in there at once without any build up because we need to catch up plan.
