Lots of new
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice details have been revealed over the past couple of days, but among the most interesting is the role of Jeremy Irons' Alfred Pennyworth in the movie. According to
WhatCulture.com, he won't be a butler, and was actually Thomas and Martha Wayne's bodyguard when they were killed. When the young Bruce decided to dismiss what was left of the staff in Wayne Manor, he kept Alfred around (who then became the youngster's legal guardian).
Now that Bruce is an adult, Alfred is his chief of security and lives on the grounds of Wayne Manor in what is described as a "comfortable trailer." He's also said to be a former SAS officer, so it's clear this is going to be a very different take on the character!
However, this does sound pretty similar to
Batman: Earth One's Alfred so it's not that massive a departure from the source material. Meanwhile, Alfred's past experience with weapons, intelligence gathering, medicine, and piloting a variety of vehicles has all apparently come in handy to both train and help Batman in his crime fighting duties in Gotham. Sounds pretty cool, right? More details about the characters and weapons in
