Zack Snyder Originally Offered Jessie Eisenberg A Different Role In BATMAN V SUPERMAN

In a new interview with The LA Times, director Zack Snyder states that he originally offered Jessie Eisenberg a different role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice but Eisenberg declined. Going by the cast was that initial offer Scoot McNairy's part or Ezra Miller's role?

Before Jessie Eisenberg recieved the offer to play Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, he had an offer to play another character. Eisenberg declined and then Zack Snyder returned and offered him Lex Luthor.  Snyder decliend to specify which role he initially offered Eisenberg but perhaps The Social Network actor was originally offered Scott McNairy's part? It's hard to imagine Eisenberg as The Caped Crusader. Or maybe Eisenberg was Snyder's first choice for the role that went to Ezra Miller, The Flash?

Also, if  Snyder originally envisioned Eisenberg for a different part, does that mean he also initially had someone else in mind for the role of Lex? You can read his comments below.

"Let's call it a secret, but nevertheless it was the exact opposite of Lex Luthor.  I feel like once [Eisenberg] found out who Lex was he embraced it.  Once you kind of start digging into Lex, it's a bit of a scary thing to be that guy. I don't think he just goes 'Oh, I'll just be that guy and then when I go home I'm not him.' I think the thing with Jessie is he wasn't immune to the reality of playing a super-scary character."

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice arrives in North American theaters on March 25, 2016.

Well seeing that Ezra Miller, Penn Badgely, and Adam driver were up for "nightwing" which turned out to be lex luthor it'll be hard to figure out which role Jesse was offered but I bet it was Scoot's roll as Jimmy Olsen

If the Steelers don't win the Super Bowl, I want you to know it's because you cursed them by abandoning your Steelers avatar before the season was over.

So he cast him in the biggest role, because he declined a smaller part? Makes sense. Sounds like a Trank <3 Jordan situation to me.

This was probably pointed out a long time ago, but a while ago I noticed that Scott McNairy's character is seen on the far right.

Yeah, I agree with everyone here. I think he was also originally offered Batman/Bruce Wayne, but realized his hair color was wrong for the ro....okay, B...our settlement clearly stated that you couldn't talk about any of the events that happened that night. For all I know, you were the one that put Quaaludes in your drink.

Rosenbaum was great as Lex. The show's quality took a nose dive with his departure.

The Hollywood Reporter (which is as close to official as one can get in the world of gossip) reported that Luthor was offered to Joaquin Phoenix, then Adam Driver before Eisenberg. It's something the production will never confirm, lest Jesse sound like the third choice (remember Jason Momoa as Drax?), but clearly he was.

I doubt the part he was originally offered was as small as McNairy's - maybe it was Flash? That seems like a weird fit too, though.
