Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Return As Valentina Allegra de Fontaine May Have Been Revealed Thanks To New Set Photo

Marvel Studios clearly has something big planned for Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in the MCU, and a new set photo might just reveal the next project we'll see her in. Find more details after the jump...

By JoshWilding - Sep 02, 2021 07:09 AM EST

We first met Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier after she recruited John Walker and turned the former Captain America into her U.S. Agent. She'd later appear in Black Widow's post-credits scene, sending Yelena Belova after Clint Barton (claiming that Hawkeye was responsible for Natasha's demise).

Many fans are convinced that "Val" is assembling a team of Dark Avengers, though it's clear Marvel Studios is taking the same slow-burn approach to this character as they did with Nick Fury.

Now, a newly surfaced set photo has started doing the rounds online which claims to reveal where we'll next see the mysterious villain make her presence felt. It appears Louis-Dreyfus has been shooting scenes for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, though we can only speculate as to what she might be up to.

Another less likely possibility is that she was on hand for Hawkeye's reshoots, but with so many Marvel Studios movies and TV shows in various stages of production, it's difficult to be sure.

Whatever the case may be, Val is a character who looks set to be a big part of future stories. We're sure Namor or Riri Williams would both be candidates for her team of Avengers, though it's also possible she's looking to interfere in whatever has been happening in Wakanda since T'Challa's death (assuming that's how Marvel Studios chooses to write the character out of the MCU).

An actor has filmed scenes in Atlanta for some upcoming Marvel project.

Me: Well, that narrows it down to... basically anything.

This Marvel project is using a lot of greenscreen.

Moon Knight, She-Hulk, Wakanda Forever, The Marvel and maybe even Quantumania and Secret Invasion already. Lot of stuff that's filming she could appear in.

I think it would be cool to see her show up in Secret Invasion in a larger role, because I'm hoping she'll be working for Norman Osborn. Who in turn I hope will show up in a Dark Reign follow-up to Secret Invasion.

Maybe they create a Wakandian building on the green screens. The Wakandan consulate in the United States. Also, we know that Shuri will be in the country at some point in the movie. Perhaps the consul organizes a reception to celebrate the visit of the royal princess. The Contessa is the type of woman who would have an invitation to an important event. She can be there to talk about international affairs.

Marvel is doing like 100 different projects and all of them are in Atlanta, she could literally just be filming random cameos in all of them back to back.

I hope we get a better sense of what she's doing and who she's working for/with in her next appearance. Osborn, Hydra, Dr Doom? Bunch of cool directions this could lead, but right now I just find her annoying.

Oh? She could be trying to recruit Riri at the outreach the same time Shuri takes a liking to her. Could be a quick couple of scenes for Val and Riri. The green screens are throwing me off though... I doubt she'd show up in Wakanda.

I bet she'll show up first in some of Shang-Chi's post credit scenes and next in Hawkeye's TV show.

I don't see her succeeding in recruiting Riri Williams at all though.
