Although there have been rumors over the years, we still don't have anything solid on Marvel's plans for a solo Black Widow movie. It could well be the case that Kevin Feige and co. feel the character works better supporting the likes of Captain America and Iron Man, but according to a poll conducted by Fandango for USA Today, fans simply aren't going to be happy with that for too much longer.

The public were asked to choose who they'd most like to see star in a standalone adventure next. Scarlett Johansson's Natasha Romanov came out with 48% of the votes, followed by Vision with 15% , then Falcon (12%), Hawkeye (10%), War Machine (8%) and Scarlet Witch (7%).

Along with Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton, Romanov is the only original team member without her own solo movie. That along with the fact that she frequently steals scenes from some of the "bigger" characters, and it makes sense that the enigmatic agent would top a poll like this.

Said poll also saw Cap beat Iron Man in the preferred solo movie outing stakes 57% to 43% - but will he win where it counts in Marvel's Captain America: Civil War? Find out this weekend.

A movie about black widow/hawkeye would do. Throw in some budapest. Winter soldier as a secondary antagonist. Set in the past. I would spent my money on that

@malsemarcel - Black Widow is just sooo bland in the movies. Every line is monotone. She works great with certain other characters (like Hawkeye) but by herself, just too meh.

Never gonna happen. But an origins story in a netflix 8 eps series could be dope

@MiopTop - A movie could never happen but a Netflix series is possible? For your own sake don't take up sports betting.

@DallasAvenger - A Netflix series is more probable than a movie. The movies are set in stone until 2020, the Netflix shows are set in stone for about 1 year and a half...

@MiopTop - Obviously they are not set in stone since they have changed three times since the slate was announced. But what's wrong with 2020? That would make Scarlett 34 or 35 depending on when they filmed the movie, 4 years younger than fan favorite Ketheryn Winnick is right now and 6 years younger than Charlize Theron.

Seems a lot more reasonable than Netflix paying big bucks for her to appear in a Netflix series that would be completely unrelated to all the other Marvel shows that they have created this little world for. I doubt it's something Scarlett wants to do.

@DallasAvenger - There's zero chance they'll ever make a Black Widow movie. If they decided Inhumans first that tells you everything you need to know.
DallasAvenger
DallasAvenger - 5/3/2016, 9:15 AM
@MiopTop - What? Inhumans was put in the schedule because Perlmutter wanted it there because he thought it would sell a lot of toys, and soon after Feige no longer had to report to him and Ike lost his authority over the movies guess what? Inhumans was indefinitely delayed. That doesn't prove anything. I never claimed it was certain or even likely they would make a Black Widow, but saying there is zero chance is a ridiculous statement that holds no validity in any actual conversation.

@DallasAvenger - got a source for that Perlmutter claim?

@DallasAvenger - What ? Feige has backed Inhumans forever, he's the only reason it was ever on the schedule in the first place. That's part of why he hates Marvel TV for using them in AoS and f*cking that up.

@MiopTop - I think she makes too much money to do Netflix, they would spend the whole budget on her salary
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 5/3/2016, 1:42 PM
@MiopTop - That would be neat. But more like a shield based series (not AoS) with black widow and hawkeye and fury. Enough missions hinted in previous movies I would like to see on screen

@jamesdnyc - Well Netflix got Spacey for House of Cards ...

MiopTop - 5/3/2016, 2:49 PM
@malsemarcel - I'd like to see something of an origin. Maybe an episode or two as a girl, entering the Red Room. A few episodes of her training as a young woman and eventually rising to the top of the Red Room, getting the Black Widow name. Then one episode half way through of her meeting Hawkeye and getting taken in by SHIELD, and the rest being her adapting to SHIELD and trying to do good.

Maybe have Ninotchka as the villain ? starting out as the one that helps Natasha when she first gets to the red room, and eventually becoming jealous and being the main villain for the rest of the season ?

bkmeijer2 - 5/3/2016, 3:53 PM
@MiopTop - I thought of something like that yeah. But then with some hawkeye/black widow missions with winter soldier as an antagonist. Ofcourse origin episodes are a must

Eh, no thanks. Her personality is cardboard.
Now a Black Widow/Hawkeye team movie? That I'd see.

@pestulio07 - Her personality is cardboard ? What ? Since Winter Soldier she's been one of the most interesting characters in the MCU.

I was gonna say why the hell do people want a BW movie so bad? But then I saw the other choices of solo's and realised it was the best out of all those terrible ideas for solo's.

pestulio07 - 5/3/2016, 8:25 AM
@Chaos200 - lol fair point. Who would want a Falcon solo movie?
FilmDork1221
FilmDork1221 - 5/3/2016, 8:15 AM
I'm still hoping that Hawkeye gets his own show, or at least has a few episodes on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
MiopTop
MiopTop - 5/3/2016, 2:52 PM
@FilmDork1221 - Renner won't do it. Dude's not gonna get into Hawkeye shape for a cameo on a TV show nobody watches
