CAPTAIN AMERICA Celebrates Facebook's Friend Day On The Road To CIVIL WAR

The official Captain America Facebook page decided to get in on the celebration of 'Friend Day'. Cap has a lot of friends in the MCU but it's when the montage gets to Tony Stark that things get interesting.

Yesterday, Facebook celebrated Friend Day by releasing custom videos for its users that showed how you and your closest friends have changed over the years. The folks over at Marvel decided to get in on the action on the official Captain America facebook page by having a custom photo montage for Steve Rogers. However, there's a special twist, a sign of things to come when the video starts to show photos of Steve's friendship with Tony Stark.

UPDATE:  Not to be out done, Robert Downey Jr. is getting in on the fun.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR SYNOPSIS
Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability. Get ready to pick a side and join the nonstop action playing out on two fronts when Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War opens in U.S. theaters on May.

@Omarvls I THINK they're using the same marketing style the did with Winter Soldier. Very sober, not to much fuss...letting the movie speaks for itself.

@iDontWikeIt - agreed. But I think marketing will ramp up as May 6th comes closer. When winter soldier was maybe a month away, the tv spots and youtube ads were everywhere. I think Marvel is such a large part of the cultural zeitgeist, they don't have to market as hard as they used to. The Marvel name is enough to get people in seats and marvel knows it.

That didn't up my excitement at all. Hopefully when Civil War approaches it's release date we'll start to get better marketing. Other then the day we got that awesome trailer and posters this movie has been pretty low key as far as the marketing is concerned. We've gotten alot of promo art stuff but only two of them are good compared to the other ten that we've gotten.

If I were Marvel Studios and I wanted to avoid being overshadowed by all the DC BvS Suicide Squad (let's be honest fellow Marvel fans, that's exactly what's happening right now.) I'd go all out with the Superbowl tv spot. I mean Spiderman, Black Panther, Antman, more Cap vs Iron Man. Whatever you gotta do to get people talking about this movie. This is Superbowl 50, this Cam vs Peyton, so everybody is gonna be watching it, they BETTWR show Spider-Man.

Rant over lol

@ComicsBornAndBread I also think that. I guess the marketing ramps up in April or something. I like it this way though. It shows confidence AND shows they (apparently) learnt from the AoU mistake. However, It's compehensible because an Avengers movie it's a huge event and they need to promote it as much as possible. I know a lot of people who have only seen the Avengers movies and they don't have a clue about what happened in the middle of both movies.

@Jeight Yes! I have faith in this movie!!

Oh, and those who say that CW will come out in a bad moment only because X-Men Apocalypse is coming out two weeks after, well, let me tell ya something: People will watch both if that's the case. X-Men movie is not going to affect at all CW.

Are they still trying to convince us that Cap and Tony are actually bosom buddies?

@GrilledPopcorn - I'm fairly certain that at this point in the game Marvel hears "500%" and thinks "that's cute" as they cash yet another multi-million dollar check to go with all the others they've collected. In other words, DCEU NEEDS that "500%"... Marvel doesn't.
