This weekend, X-Men: Apocalypse passed the $300 million mark and will likely end its run with not a whole lot more than that (somewhere around $550 million - $600 million seems likely when all is said and done). To Marvel Studios, that's chump change when it comes to most of their movies, and that may explain why the Captain America: Civil War cast wants to bring the X-Men back home.
Talking at a panel at Wizard World Philadelphia this weekend, Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, and Sebastian Stan all shared their thoughts on those characters joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Stan saying: "Looks like it's time to get back some of those X-Men. Mystique. We need that Mystique." Evans meanwhile has his sights set on another character. "I'd love to work with Fassbender because he's Fassbender. Him and McAvoy, one of those guys would be great to work with." There's no denying that seeing this lot team up would be awesome, but it's sadly unlikely.
After all, X-Men: Apocalype isn't going to be a flop, and Deadpool was a huge hit for Fox. The characters they really need help with are the Fantastic Four, but the studio has enough irons in the fire to not have to worry too much about them or how the latest X-Men movie has performed. Still, it's nice to think that we may see Evans' Captain America taking on Fassbender's Magneto somewhere down the line...
