CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR's Jeremy Renner Would Be Open To A HAWKEYE Netflix Series
With the success of Daredevil, it's easy to wonder whether a hero like Hawkeye could transition from the big-screen to Netflix and well, it sounds like star Jeremy Renner is very much open to the idea!
All aboard the Netflix express!
With the roaring critical and commercial success of Netflix's two Marvel series - Daredevil & Jessica Jones - it's only natural for fans to wonder whether any of their favorite big screen heroes, that don't have hundred-million dollar solo films/sequels lined up, would ever consider making the leap from the big screen to a much smaller one.
With his ties to New York and connection to The Defenders and their associated villains, fans in some circles have been clamoring for a Spider-Man series, but with a brand new reboot arriving in 2017 and his unlimited box office appeal, not to mention his live-action rights being owned by Sony Pictures, it's highly unlikely Spidey ever travels to the small screen in a non-animated scenario. So, moving on to the more realistic options... what about the most human of the Avengers, Hawkeye?
Now, with everything Marvel/Netflix has been able to do with characters like Daredevil, the Punisher, Elektra, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Hellcat so far, it'd be very interesting to see what the right team of people could do with a character like Hawkeye and his rich history in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, something that's only been hinted at thus far, but would Jeremy Renner (Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation) be down for a Netflix series over a potential film? While attending the Silicon Valley Comic-Con, Renner held a Q&A where one fan asked him whether he would be interested in doing a Hawkeye series on Netflix, similar to Daredevil, and Renner's answer was quite enthusiastic, Check it out below:
"I think that's actually a really great model, if there's ever a way to explore the character, maybe it's in that world. These are things that are really not in my control, but I'd be open to it. I've really enjoyed getting to explore the character more recently. The Netflix model is where all the character drama goes to now, you're doing a superhero movie or a Netflix or HBO kind of model. So I'd be open to it. Not up to me, though."
Back when The Avengers hit theaters in 2012, it was hard to imagine a major movie star taking a few months out of their schedules to film a series for Netflix, but now five years later, stars like Idris Elba (Beasts Of No Nation), Will Smith (Bright), Charlize Theron (Mindhunter), Brad Pitt (War Machine), Adam Sandler (The Do-Over) can and/or will be seen on the streaming service in new original content within the next year or so. Jeremy Renner could and certainly sounds interested in joining the fray, even if the likelihood for a theoretical Hawkeye series going into production anytime soon, with Iron Fist, The Defenders, a potential Punisher series, and subsequent seasons to their current Marvel series already on the docket, is probably relatively small. Also, any theoretical Hawkeye series, that isn't a prequel, would require quite a bit of planning to make it work with his role in Avengers: Infinity War and other cinematic escapades. Although, despite all the hurdles, it would be fun to see more of his backstory and maybe see him reunite with his on-screen wife Linda Cardellini (Bloodline).
Renner was later asked what he thought about a potential Black Widow and Hawkeye movie, to which he, without missing a beat, replied: "In a second. I'd love to do that." Considering the numerous hints about their past scattered throughout the two Avengers films, specifically their mission to Budapest, Natasha's red ledger, and Natasha being the only member of the Earth's Mightiest Heroes to know about Clint's family, it would be quite interesting to explore their past. It would also likely be equally as interesting to send the two off on their own adventure in Phase 3 or the inevitable Phase 4, depending on if they make it out of Civil War or Infinity War alive.
So, what do you guys think? Would you like to see Hawkeye get the Netflix treatment? Or would you rather see a Black Widow/Hawkeye team-up movie? Sound off with your thoughts below!

After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team.
