Disney Boss Reveals Whether Marvel Studios Will Release R-Rated Movies Following DEADPOOL's Success

With Deadpool breaking almost countless box office records, will Disney follow suit by unleashing R-Rated comic book movies on the world? Hit the jump to find out what Bob Iger had to say about that.

With Fox planning to release an R-Rated Wolverine movie and Warner Bros. getting set to unleash a much darker cut of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on home video, surely Marvel Studios are going to get in on the action, right? Nope. Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed today that there are no plans for any R-Rated Marvel movies in the near future.

Honestly, that isn't a surprise, and having seen the first few episodes of Daredevil season two, I think it's fair to say that they're pretty much set for "R" content on Netflix!

Still, are you disappointed that we won't be getting an R-Rated Avengers movie any time soon? While it would be interesting to see them go down that route, PG-13 may be more than good enough, especially as Iger described Captain America: Civil War as "some of the best Marvel storytelling to date."

@newmutantsRETURNS - even then, the current Marvel line-up of heroes aren't really R-rated material, and the ones that are are in Netflix, where their stories don't get restricted by a 2-hour running time.
I mean, Iron Man killed a bunch of terrorist in IM1 and a LOT of people got stabbed, shot or exploded in Cap 2 and those were still PG-13, so no, I don't think "not R rated movies" means "brand to live up to because kids" and more like "it doesn't really fit these characters"

@Spidey91 - That is right and that is one of the reasons why DC fans dont understand who is the big mistake of Marvel movies. Because the action has never been the problem, Marvel character arent make to be "R-rated", Daredevil, Deadpool, Punisher and maybe characters like Jessica Jones needs this kind of freedoms to do a good adaptation of the source material, but almost all the other characters doesnt need to [frick], to curse or to show blood in every punch to make the character work.

Marvel problem is that their movies doesnt have a lot of emotional depth and good development of character, while they have a lot of heavy CGI action and this end up in big conflicts with little to none settlement of the situation.

For example Tony Stark never had any kind of development even if he was in 6 movies he always is the same guy from the first scene of Iron Man 1, the playboy, stupid guy who breacks the four wall every second with every joke.

Until now the only 3 characters who had good development in 1 movie are Thor, Loki and Hope Van Dyne. While Steve Rogers needed 3 movies to had a good development of character and make us seen how he was fanatic who lost faith when he saw the corruption and now he is fighting his own demons.
