Hayley Atwell Reveals What Peggy Carter Would Think Of CAPTAIN AMERICA Kissing Her Niece

What would Peggy Carter think of the kiss Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) shared with her niece, Sharon Cater (Emily VanCamp) in Captain America: Civil War? Hayley Atwell thinks Agent Carter wouldn't approve.

There's nothing quite like being frozen in a block of ice to ruin a relationship.  With Steve Rogers being perfectly preserved for decades in the world's largest natural refrigerator, S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Peggy Carter continued to grow older and even got married though it was obvious that Steve remained the love of her life.  When Steve was defrosted, the first thing on his mind was Peggy.  However, a few films later, Steve is making out with Peggy's niece just a few hours after his first love's funeral.

Here's what Peggy would think about that, according to Hayley Atwell [via IGN].  "Well, first of all she'd be turning over in her grave.  She'd be like 'no.' And she'd inject herself with the blue serum and become a super villain. She'd break out of her coffin and ground [Sharon]. She'd ground her. Then she'd kick Steve's ass as well.  I just feel that, you know - I wouldn't want to date my great aunt's guy. It just feels like it crosses an incestuous boundary. And Peggy just died. That's even more disrespectful, right? It's like, 'Don't touch that. You can't tap that!"

Hayley even showed her awareness of what's happening on the comic side of the business, citing the current shocker that Steve has been a Hydra Agent all along.  "[Peggy would] want the best for her [niece] and she'd want her dating a good guy. And now with this whole 'Hail Hydra' business, I don't know if Steve's good enough for her.  So on all levels, it's just a big fat no."

Considering in the MCU he and Peggy only kissed once and never had any relationship beyond that - honestly there shouldn't really be anyone who has issues with him dating Sharon in the MCU.

There is no insane 'age gap' for example because he was frozen and fixed at the same age - so nobody can claim 'age difference' as an excuse. While he mentions to Bucky that they are both 'a hundred years old' he was clearly referring to them being people living in a different time than the one they are suited for.

Agent Carter also moved on. She got married and even flirted with at least two or three other guys - doing more with them than she ever did with Steve.

===

Its time people actually took things in context rather than just simply pretending that he had any a relationship with Peggy in the MCU of anything more than a crush and a single kiss.

I now have a pitch for the plot to Captain America 4.

So something I've been wondering.

How is Sharon Peggy's niece in the MCU?

I don't remember Peggy having a brother in Captain America: TFA.

Do they bring it up in Agent Carter?

@LEVITIKUZ - Hayley Atwell recently: There was talk about a "possible kind of twist," Atwell said. "I suppose, into something to do with the family." According to CinemaBlend, the actress spoke about Season 3 "going further back into [Carter's] past," similar to the flashbacks in Season 2. "They suggested there would be more to do with my brother," Atwell added. "So that's all I can say."

@DrDoom - Yeah but he also died in Agent Carter xD So she must have had an additional sibling that wasn't mentioned anywhere (if her parents weren't too old during WW2 they might have had another child in the 50s and in turn that child had Sharon in 80s and timeline fits)... OR her brother didn't die but was captured by Nazis/Hydra/Leviathan and he later resurfaced in Peggy's life.

I have no problem with him kissing her. The only problem I have is this kiss came out of nowhere especially considering from the time jump of 2 years from the events of The Winter Soldier where Steve met Sharon and had their brief encounters. There is no mention of any type of interaction with them even though Natasha suggested he call Sharon. Then Civil War happens,he gets a text about her passing, she steps up to speak about her aunt all of a sudden he realizes who she is in relation to her and gets feels for her?

I love Civil War overall but that scene just didn't fit for me. It gave me the same WTF reaction with the the Hulk/Black Widow connection that was just shoehorned into Age of Ultron.
