THOR: RAGNAROK Director Says The Odinson Would Be #TeamCap Or Start His Own Team

Taika Waititi, director of the upcoming Marvel Studios film, Thor: Ragnarok states that he believes Chris Hemsworth's Asgardian prince would start his own team or support Captain America in Civil War.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe's two heavy-hitters sat out the superhero slugfest in Captain America: Civil War and for good reason.  The inclusion of just one of the Avenger's powerful titans would have heavily skewed odds in one team's favor and if each had supported opposing sides, the two would most certainly have sought one another out on the battlefield and the force of their blows would have likely incapacitated everyone else involved.

Speaking to Fandango, Taika Waititi, who will direct both Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth in Thor: Ragnarok, stated that he thinks Thor would have considered two options if he was around for Cap and Iron Man's disagreement over the Sokovia Accords.  "We’ve talked a little bit about this. Personally, I feel Thor would have started his own team. He wouldn’t have liked the idea of those teams. But, even though Thor is from outer space and he lives in a palace, part of me likes to think he would side with Cap. I would side with Cap purely because I don’t trust billionaires."

If there actually was a #TeamThor in Civil War, who do you think would've been on it and what would their role have been? Let us know in the comment section below.

Wonder how T'Challa and Thor would interact with each other since T'Challa is also a billionaire

@Sulti1274 - One of the very few thing that bugs me in Civil War is how there is zero interaction between Tony and T'Challa. Seeing as he's consider "on Tony's side" and them being both rich af.

Here's a very insightful interview with Taika, he talks about Thor for a little bit, but if you want to understand him more as a film maker I think this is a really good start. http://fusion.net/story/314034/taika-waititi-interview/

Still can't get a good read on Waititi. Seems like one of those improv guys that just throws things out there hoping to get a momentary chuckle without any sort of broader intent. I'm not going to take anything he says seriously until there is at least a trailer to judge.

I don't really get how "His own team" would be an option. He either signs the accords (Which he wouldn't do... No way that Thor agrees to only fight evil on Midgard when a bunch of politicians he has no fealty to says so) or he doesn't, in which case why would he refuse to listen to Cap and his request for help? Yeah, he could say "Bugger this" and just leave for Asgard (Which is not much of a change from how the story actually went), but if he's around then he's likely team Cap.

Banner might sign the accords... He's as guilt-ridden as Tony is. But I think he would agree with Cap's argument that it's just shifting the blame and covering their own asses when something goes wrong. "I was on official assignment when the Hulk rampaged through that orphanage" isn't going to really work for him. If he didn't sign the accords, I think he would retire and stay the hell out of a fight.

Shanksman

@BatmanHeisenberg - If Thor is on Cap's side then pretty sure Hulk is on Tony's side. Let's be serious, if it wasn't for the plot progression, team Iron man would annihilate team Cap.
UltronPrime

@Shanksman - exactly
BatmanHeisenberg
BatmanHeisenberg - 6/16/2016, 9:59 AM
@Shanksman - I disagree. The teams are fairly evenly matched. Cap could take on Iron Man. Falcon could take on War Machine. Wanda can take on Vision (and win). Ant-Man/Giant-Man can take on Spidey. Bucky can take on T'Challa. Clint can take on Natasha. It's pretty evenly matched.

@Shanksman - Plus Natasha said Banner wouldn't be with Tony anyway.
UltronPrime

@BatmanHeisenberg - in the thrid act if Tony attention was 100 percent on cap and not bucky Tony would have beat cap remember tony scanned cap fighting style Tony would have won if it wasn't for buck grabbing starks foot
BatmanHeisenberg
BatmanHeisenberg - 6/16/2016, 10:12 AM
@UltronPrime - He momentarily beat Cap in the final battle, but I remember the battle ending with Tony helmetless and with a dead suit.
