After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier. Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941, Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" is produced by Kevin Feige, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, and stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp and Hayley Atwell, with Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

The reveal of Zola being behind the HYDRA infestation of SHIELD was probably one of my favorite scenes of this entire year so far. Gorgeously edited, it occurred at one of the most suspenseful moments of the whole movie, and it was a heck of a plot twist too.

I don't remember seeing Bucky going in and out of cryo in Captain America TWS except maybe in the trailers. I've seen this movie a few times, the only problem i had was Black Widow, everything else was great.

@SauronsBANE I thought the scene was extremely well edited, but it was just a clever (or not so clever) way to sneak a 2 minute exposition scene into the movie without. Still a great movie though.

@Sipprelle It absolutely was an excuse to have a massive exposition-dump in the middle of a fast-paced political thriller, no doubt about it!

But there are good examples of exposition, and bad ones. Personally, I thought it was a great way to go about it. It was necessary info that we (as well as the characters) needed to know about, it was done in a very organic and natural way, it had the great shock-factor to it, and it had lasting repercussions throughout the rest of the movie.

I can't imagine a better way for the Russo brothers to do that, IMO.

@Starfox

I'm just wondering why Cap couldn't lift it all the way? You'd think that after all he's represented/done he would've been able to lift it by now? Especially after the events of Cap 2, the guy basically let The Winter Soldier beat the sh*t out of him just because they were "friends till the end"? And you're telling me that all he can do is tickle Mjolnir?! Come onnn man. lol

@TheRationalNerd I think it's because fooling around and trying to lift Thor's hammer for kicks at a party isn't a very "worthy" reason to lift it. If he was trying to save someone's life or because of some other emergency, then he probably would be able to lift it without a problem.

Or maybe he's just being typical humble Cap, and he's purposely holding back so that he doesn't show up Thor and make everyone else look bad haha.

so your telling me that you think odin believes that's a good quality for a potential future king of asgard.

"One could make the argument that Cap has the heart of someone who's worthy but doesn't have what it takes to kill someone should he have to or make the tough call."

Cap is a soldier. He killed lots of HYDRA soldiers in The First Avenger, aliens in The Avengers, and he brutally killed TONS of people in The Winter Soldier. The only person he refused to kill was his best friend...which is perfectly understandable, IMO.

Chris Evans said he want to focus more on directing than acting as the years go by. Its always great to manage a plan going forward. What's also great is when everybody here on ComicBookMovie stands up for each other. The same can't be said somewhere else. If you visit CageSideSeats, please spread the movement #FreeBrownFlash. Speaking of free, Chris Evans broke free of scrutiny when he proved that he CAN separate two characters played from the same dude. I don't see Human Torch in Captain America or vice-versa. "So your telling me that you think Odin believes that's a good quality for a potential future King of Asgard."

Lol. Good point, but wasn't that basically the same thing that had happened with Thor in his first film? He risked his life for Destroyer/Loki to just flat out murk him.

That's a very good observation you have there. I mean they're all just trying to do this for the heck of it. Maybe it's more of a "Nahhh, you can't lift me in this type of circumstance." than a "Despite all I've seen you do, you're still not worthy enough in my book." lol
