Brie Larson Thanks Fans For Their Support After Being Cast As CAPTAIN MARVEL

Backlash to comic book movie casting has become commonplace recently (just ask Ben Affleck and Michael B. Jordan), but Brie Larson has shared a touching message for supportive Captain Marvel fans.

The response to Brie Larson being cast as Captain Marvel has been overwhelmingly positive, a rarity these days thanks to a very vocal fanbase on social media. Given Larson's track record (she won an Oscar earlier this year for an incredible performance in Room), it's easy to see why she's been embraced as the first big screen Carol Danvers, and the actress has taken to Instagram to thank fans.

It's a heartfelt message, and Larson has been interacting with fans a lot on Twitter and Instagram since the announcement was made on Saturday. With Captain Marvel not set to be released until 2019, it remains to be seen when exactly we'll get to see her in action on the big screen, but with Avengers: Infinity War expected to start shooting later this year, it will hopefully be sooner rather than later...

Woke up this morning thinking about the tidal wave of support I got this weekend. It was nerve-racking to trust fall into the Internet! I know who I am, but its wild how quickly you can forget once someone calls you something terrible. I was reminded how the acceptance of community is a deeply rooted need - but I don't want to live worried people will hate me because I'm myself! We should all have the freedom to be our authentic selves without fear or judgement. It's scary to chip away at all the hardness we coat ourselves with to protect that perfect little being inside. Yeah, people can be mean, but they can also be so many other wonderful things too. Let's make this place a safe space. No hate and more understanding. To the followers that are new: welcome! Sometimes I let people take over my Instagram to share their views of the world. That's coming up next. Thanks for joining us!

@Urubrodi - It's a horrible couch choice. There was the chance there to go with something bold to make a statement, but it's such a bland neutral color like every couch the big furniture stores sell us. The shape is rather formless, and the age is all wrong too. I totally don't believe that couch as Brie Larson's couch.

Worst couch ever.
