CONFIRMED: Brie Larson Is Playing CAPTAIN MARVEL; New Movie Logo Revealed
We knew Brie Larson was in San Diego for Kong: Skull Island, but Marvel Studios made the wise decision to bring her out on stage and confirm that she will play Carol Danvers, a.k.a. Captain Marvel.
It's been rumoured for months now, but as you can see in the video below (which was shot by a fan), Kevin Feige revealed today that Oscar winning actress Brie Larson (Room) will play Captain Marvel. While her solo outing is still a a good few years away, it's thought that the character has been cast now because she'll have a role in Avengers: Infinity War, though whether or not that ensemble will tell her origin story obviously remains to be seen. Accompanying this announcement was a new official logo.
Marvel's panel this year was an interesting one, with the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 footage - which sadly won't be released online - sounding like the highlight. Still, ending things by announcing that Larson will play Captain Marvel was a smart move, especially as the charcter will no doubt become an integral part of this world over the next few years. We're now going to have to wait and see when it comes to a director for her solo outing, but it having a star is definitely a pretty damn good start.
