RUMOR: Could WHITE GIRL Director Elizabeth Wood Be In The Running To Helm CAPTAIN MARVEL?
Fans are dying to know who Marvel has chosen to direct (and star in) the upcoming Captain Marvel movie, and the latest rumor points to indie filmmaker Elizabeth Wood. Click on for more...
Based on a few hints - and admittedly, a healthy does of speculation - we recently reported that Marvel may have been looking at Emily Carmichael to take the reigns of their Captain Marvel adaptation, and now a new rumor suggests the studio might have their eye on another independent director.
According to We Got This Covered's sources, "a private meeting was held last week between Marvel representatives and Elizabeth Wood". Wood's debut feature, White Girl, garnered acclaim when it screened at Sundance in February, and was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize.
Like the Carmichael rumor, don't read too much into this for now, but given everything we've heard so far it does seem like Marvel is going after an up-and-coming director to helm this movie, so Wood definitely fits the bill.
