The version of Catwoman who appeared in The Dark Knight Rises wasn't the most comic book faithful take on the iconic DC Comics character, but for the most part, fans loved what Anne Hathaway brought to the role. Talking to Variety at the Toronto Film Festival, the Colossal star expressed an interest in reprising the role somewhere down the line despite the complications which might surround that.
"I loved that character and I had such a blast playing her," Hathaway said. "I’m not sure how it would work because I think the Chris Nolan chapter of the Batman story has been wrapped up and I’m part of that, but I love the DC Universe and it would be fun to take a trip back." That is obviously an issue, but seeing as it's been four years since that movie was released, she could easily play a new version.
Of course, chances are that when Catwoman does return to the big screen, a new actress will be playing her. Does Hathaway feel possessive about the role? "I don’t think you can. It sort of goes with the territory when you accept it and receive it from the last Catwoman. I was shown such generosity from Halle [Berry] and from Michelle [Pfeiffer], and so I would do that the next time as well."
