ARROW Star John Barrowman Upped To A Series Regular In All Of The CW's DC TV Shows

It sounds like Malcolm Merlyn will have a huge presence in the DC TV Universe moving forward as John Barrowman has signed a deal which looks set to make him a regular across all of The CW's shows.

Following the death of Captain Cold in Legends of Tomorrow's season finale, it was revealed that Wentworth Miller had signed an unprecedented deal making him a series regular in not just one of The CW's DC Comics adaptations, but all of them. Now, TV Line reveals that John Barrowman has done the same thing, meaning he'll be a fixture of not just Arrow, but the network's other properties too.

That means we could end up seeing Malcolm Merlyn/The Dark Archer in everything from Supergirl to The Flash, but why the character is getting this expanded role remains to be seen. It was back in May that executive producer Greg Berlanti explained: "What it really emulates to us is the comic books themselves, where there really are a cast of characters. In success, we hope to continue with other characters finding their way across all the shows." It's an interesting approach, that's for sure.

This deal obviously doesn't mean that Barrowman will be in every episode of The Flash's third season, but he could for example make sporadic appearances both there and in Legends of Tomorrow thanks to this new deal. It was back in 2011 that Arrow launched, and since then, The CW has created a shared world for their characters which so far appears to be outshining the DC Films Universe.

That's great. He is the best part of Arrow and has been since the beginning. He will have great chemistry with the Flash cast.

He stole the show in Season 1 but now I'm sick of him. His motivations are boring. "I WILL DO ANYTHING TO PROTECT MY DAUGHTER" bla bla bla

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - Yeah, back then he was the "dark archer". I also enjoy Merlyn and Green Arrow's rivalry in the comics, where Merlyn cares more about [frick]ing over Oliver out out spite.

On all?

So that means he'll be a regular on Flash, LoT, Arrow and now Supergirl. Wonder what *organic* way they'll come up with to explain his "regular" presence.

@kingsupreeth - everytime someone asks him what's he doing there, he should just reply "I'm here because I'm awesome".

@Spidey91 - he'll appear with the league of assassins randomly like he does in arrow.
Kara: "How are you on my earth? How did you get into the DEO?"
Merlyn: "I'm a magician"
