ARROW’s Season Finale Will Be BIG On Size And Scope

Stephen Amell reveals more info about the second half of season 2 and even tells us what to expect up to season 5! Plus more on Diggle’s much awaited time in the sun and wanting Ra’s al Ghul on the show. Read on for more.

1. Oliver’s 5 years on the Island will be explored over 5 seasons
“Oliver has a back story… and we have a plan to tell that backstory over 5 seasons. That’s the plan but all you ever think about is shooting episode 18 right now. That’s our forty-first episode… and all we think about is we need to make our forty-first episode better than our fortieth episode.”

2. Season Finale will be BIG on size and scope
Which he reveals won’t be finished filming until April 17th.

“Some people haven’t heard about the size and scope of our finale. We are actually saving money on episodes we are shooting right now so that we can put it into the finale. And I have no idea how they are gonna turn that around in time.”

3. Diggle is getting his moment in the sun
The “Suicide Squad” episode will be all about Diggle, so much so that Amell will only be filming 4/9 days (usually he films up to 7 days) for that episode.

4. Stephen Amell want’s Ra’s al Ghul to be on the show.

“I want Ra’s al Ghul on the show. Let me clarify something about the pronunciation of Ra’s al Ghul. Because Nyssa in the most recent episode says Raysh, but its been established prior by people in Starling city saying its Razz. So I needed to follow suit despite mild protestations made by me. It would be fantastic to see that character on the show. We certainly name dropped him… a lot."

Note: Stephen previously said he desperately wanted Bruce Wayne on the show, so the sudden change in opinion could be a hint.

5. Episode 15 is called "The Promise" and its all about Katie Cassidy's Laurel and Ollie

"Before flying here I watched episodes 14 and 15. There's a scene between Katie Cassidy and I in episode 14 that I'm incredibly proud of and as a whole... the episode 15 is called "The Promise"... and as a whole I was just blown away by that episode. I actually bought wi-fi on the plane yesterday so that I could be in email with the producers and the director just to say I'm very proud to be a part of this. Our 15th episode is by far our best episode of the series."

6. Roy’s role on the team and his relationship with Ollie

“There is an uneasy alliance, because Oliver brought Roy into Team Arrow out of necessity not desire. He needed it at that particular moment. He’s worried. Because, as we are about to explore about what’s happened on the island, things so really bad with Slade, really really bad. He’s determined to not let that happen to Roy... but Roy has a lot to do to prove himself for Oliver to fully trust him.”

"After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he’s become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel’s father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver’s own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine."

Just keep bringing me the best of what i consider to be DC's cinematic universe. I love what marvel has done with their films but i am a DC cat through and through. For me, Arrow is dc's only all encompassing cinematic live action universe. They have introduced and named stopped so many characters from the dcu that as someone who can't afford comics anymore, get my fix once a week from Arrow. I am drinking some wine so that was my drunken fanboy cry out. Laugh, agree or enjoy, ours all the same. Love this site, love comics, love heroes. *drops mic

I agree with everyone else, Arrow needs an icon on main. There's a bunch of times I've waited for all the icons to scroll only to be disappointed in its continued absence....

I love this show too, Stephen Amell is such an awesome guy, he's great In the role and he treats the fan base really well. If Smallville and Supernatural can have up to 10 seasons then I certainly think Arrow can and deserves to make it as well. This show delivers week after week and I'm proud to be a fan of it. I recommend it to everyone I know....

You liked last week's Brother & Sisters/90210 episode?

I think what he was saying is that people in Starling call him by Razz, a bit unaware of the proper accent. And that he wanted to call him Raysh, with proper pronounciation, but couldn't?

Ha ha, I love that Stephen Amell likes spilling details.

All that sounds awesome! Ra's al Ghul should appear on the show in season 3, or even the upcoming season finale.

Latly I don't really enjoy the show. The better Agents of SHIELD, gets the worst Arrow gets. In my opinion the problems started with League of Assassins when the Al-Owal catch Oliver's arrow behind his head. Thet's [frick]ing BULLSHIT!! and LAAAAAAAAAAME!
The problems started again with the mirakuru formula. I know we were all happy that they include comic/superhero stuff, but the mirakuru formula is way too powerfull. Oliver gets his ass kicked all the [frick]ing time even with Roy. I understand if the formula gave super healing and make two or three times stronger, but they are 20 times stronger. It's just stupid.
And last Blind Spot Oliver not only he doesn't realize there's a person in the room, but also gets knoct out by a single hit. Damm it, that's stupid. He gets beaten all the time and never lose conscience, but with one hit he falls down.
The series has start to include things that don't make sense to force the situation to go where they want. That's bad writing. I hope thay fix it. Does anyone else agrees with me?

Slade still has to get an arrow through his eye & Oliver would think he's dead. Something devastating still has to happen to Sara where Oliver will think she died. What the hell is going to happen to him on that island for the next 3 years?

Arrow is the best comic book TV series! There have been others I have liked , but the scope of Arrow is beyond what has been done on the genre on TV. Cannot wait to see where it goes next!

@SUPERSHADOWBAT ... it's a nice show, and maybe the best superhero show yet... but what SCOPE are you talking about? there is no scope on arrow. their budget is LOW and it shows most of the time.
Luminus
Luminus - 2/11/2014, 3:59 AM
@MrSuperheromoviefan: I disagree with everything you've said. The BEST stories make the least sense, because they're full of imagination. Unlike S.H.I.E.L.D., which is just an info dumb and Disney XDness. But that last ep was good, I'll give them that.

Example: Lost makes ZERO sense. ZERO. Need I even finish my reference of that series to get the point across? 24 is another one. Breaking Bad, where someone gets "2-faced" and still has time to fix his tie?

"He's right it is pronounced Raysh...not Razz!!! They made this mistake in Nolans Dark Knight Trilogy...

The "Raysh" pronounciation has very little going for it apart from "it's what the creator of the character used, and what Batman TAS used". But it's like if the creator of Bane decided his name was to be pronounced "Ben-nee" - it might be what he wants the name to sound like, but it just sound wrong when looking at it.

@Luminus - I don't know about Breaking Bad or 24 since I haven't see it, but Lost was one of the worst series EVER. So, not a good example

As you can see by my name I am more of a Marvel fan than a DC fan; however I loved the story lines in Smallville with my kids growing up and now sticking with Arrow on a weekly basis. I will admit, as an “older fanboy” (look at the name, that is the year I was born and NOT my age  ), I was skeptical at first with Arrow because it seemed Stephen Amell’s acting was par and the first few episodes were slow. However, the end of season one and so far, this new season has been “on the edge of your seat” shows. The acting has improved, and the storylines are fresh and dark. . . especially now with Oliver knowing the partial truth’s of his mother. I also really appreciate the fact that Mr. Amell is so positive about this show and it shows on in his interviews. I would like to say that “AofS” will somehow pick up, as a lot of fans would like it to, but DC definitely has a winner here on prime-time.
