Black Canary Can't Appear On LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Because ARROW Still Has Plans For Her

When asked whether Katie Cassidy's Black Canary was eligible to appear on Legends of Tomorrow, showrunner Marc Guggenheim gave a cryptic answer which implies Arrow may have plans for her... UPDATE!

Could there be more in store for Katie Cassidy's Black Canary besides a memorial statue commissioned  by new Star City mayor, Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell)?  That could very well be the case, unless showrunner Marc Guggenheim is intentionally laying a false trail.

Viewers of the show that are upset with the progression of one-time fan favorite Felicity Smoak (Emily Bet Rickards) clung to the lone hope  that Oliver Queen was ultimately destined to end up with his comic book love interest, Laurel Lance.  However, with the character's death in season 4, those hopes seemed dashed leaving "Olicity" as Oliver's lone romantic possibility.  However, a recent interview with [TV Guide via CBR] has a cryptic response from Guggenheim which implies that Cassidy isn't eligible to appear on the time-traveling spinoff Legends of Tomorrow because there's still plans for her on Arrow.

Do you think Laurel will return from the grave? She certainly wouldn't be the first Arrow character to pull off the feat.  With SDCC  madness kicking off later tonight, perhaps we'll have some concrete answers before the week is out.

UPDATE: The CW Seed just confirmed that Cassidy will reprise her role as Laurel Lance aka Black Canary on the animated Vixen series.  However, Vixen 2 will be set before the events of Laurel's apparent demise in Arrow season 4.  Other character confirmed to appear in Mari McCabe's sophomore outting include Green Arrrow, Flash (Grant Gustin), Atom (Brandon Routh) and Firestorm (Franz Drameh).

God I hope not.

@Philip - I don't have a problem with her, but they can't bring another character back to life.

@Philip - Some people think she faked her death.

@Philip - seems redundant, right? Too many times and you lose an element of drama and permanency.

@MarkJulian - who thinks that?

@Philip - What if they don't? I thought the way they should do it is to bring her soul back and place it in Black Siren's body. It would make Black Canary, the most interesting character in the DC TV Universe, even more interesting.

@exies7 - Exactly. Where's the stakes at if everyone can come back from the dead?

@MarkJulian - even if that's the case, it's another way to use death to build suspense, only to reveal that the character is/will be fine.

@AMrSundayGirl58 it's an interesting idea, but wouldn't that be insanely cruel to Black Siren and not hero-like at all? Also, technically that would be bringing her back to life.

So Arrow in what way will you screw the fans over again?

@MrPositive - with more flashbacks of olive in that wig.

@MrPositive - well, aside from another Black Canary being killed, the more than likely lame way she will return again, and the continued Olicity nonsense, fans can look forward to another season of flashbacks to everyone's favorite location, Lian Yu!

That is, if you have cable. If not, you can wait until the season is completely over and then watch the entire season, (which at this point, will be mostly spoiled by folks on the Innerwebs), on Netflix, as CW will be pulling their shows from Hulu this fall.

Go CW! I wonder if they realize that Putlocker has their shows for free the next day?

I've got to say, Black Canary is someone who has been poorly adapted a lot, but Arrow's Black Canary is the one that feels the most stupidly wasted. Two years of making everyone hate her, followed by two years of being completely useless, and then dying. And on top of that, her younger sister is likable and interesting and better in the identity in pretty much every way.

Arrow isn't done with her? It's hard to imagine how many more opportunities they could miss.

Knowing Mericle and her junk, garbage writing....she probably wants to waste and embarass a beloved character a little more before she lets it go.

Since we didnt see a body, and definitely didnt see one at the funeral...everybody knows until you see a body, they ARE NOT DEAD. SO LAUREL IS OUT THERE, and i think oliver knows it or at least helped her fake her death with some heart slowing drug or palm technique. THAT BLONDE WOMAB IS ALIVE SOMEWHERE, MAYBE TRAINING TO BE A BETTER FIGHTER BECAUSE THOSE BATONS ARENT MAKIN HER LOOK BAD ASS AT ALL.

Attention Campers: A Blonde Womab has been spotted in the area. Please take necessary precautions as they may only appear to be dead to trick unsuspecting viewers into a ratings grab.

Arrow needs to learn from Supernatural. Don't let the fans control the show. Supernatural has great writing and direction, but they don't sacrifice the integrity of the show because some fans want something else.

Supernatural has some of the best fan service/meta episodes, but they continue with their overall storyline. If Guggenheim ran Supernatural, it would've been cancelled at season 4 and we would have Destiel ([frick]ing tumblr). Take a page from an actual good show on the same network. Hell, take a page from your very own spin-off show that makes you look like shit.
