Stephen Amell On What The Future Holds For 'Olicity' In ARROW Season 5

"You thought I was leaving too? Not a chance." 'Olicity' remains one of the more divisive relationships on television, and Stephen Amell has hinted at where Oliver and Felicity stand in Arrow season 5...

Despite a season full of struggle and negativity, Felicity was the only remaining member of Team Arrow that stood by Oliver's side at the end of season 4 of Arrow. Despite the pair not being together currently, the relationship between the two characters is still a hotly contested issue among fans, especially since the show killed off Black Canary.

When asked about where their relationship is at when season 5 begins, Stephen Amell reiterated that Oliver's commitment to Star City takes precedence over his commitment to Felicity. "Oliver's most important relationship in the entire show is his relationship with Star City, and his objective to make it better than what it was and fulfill what his father asked him to do," Amell told Comicbook.com. "So Oliver and Felicity are very much team members at this point. She thinks that there should be a new team at the moment, and Oliver would like the old team to return. He's convinced everyone will go do their thing, then come back. They're kind of at odds at that at the moment, but they're very much team members right now."

The show hasn't shown any sign that it's willing to diminish Felicity's presence at all, so be prepared for more relationship drama when Arrow returns for it's fifth season in the fall. Are you looking forward to it? Sound off below!

who would have thought a green arrow show would feature a dead black canary, and instead has him running around with ORIGINAL CHARACTERS.

that's insane. like, do they even want comic fans to watch at all? appartently not because most of us gave up.

@Blanka1212 - Lol calm down....

Of the current cast:

Felicity Smoak-from the comics, BUT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING LIKE HER COMIC COUNTERPART
Evelyn Sharp-Evelyn Crawford/Starling in the books, BUT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING LIKE HER COMIC COUNTERPART
Wild Dog--from the comics, tbd
Mr. Terrific-from the comics, tbd
Diggle-retconned, now in the comics, introduced AFTER Arrow/for Arrow's sake
Thea/Speedy--Mia, but still Speedy in the books, BUT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING LIKE HER COMIC COUNTERPART

So it might as well be all new characters

@Blanka1212 - he's running around with none of the characters that are spawned from his comic books basically. Like Roy Harper, Black Canary, hell even Huntress and the majority of his villains have not been his also.

Crazy it's on season 5 already. Patient doesn't give me much hope. I don't want slow I want suspenseful. I can't stand being olicity so that's a big turn off from the show.

Kill this show, move characters to cameo in Batman/Nightwing show. not Gotham, new show with adult super hero versions of Batman or Nightwing. No more origin crap either.

@slickrickdesigns - totally, i think a batman show would get cw out of this slump that arrow has created.

like i didn't even finish this season of flash, and i think it was because the soap opera stuff was bringing back bad memories of arrow.

my idea was to have bruce come back from training iaround the world, and his last stop is learning the ways of vigilantism from arrow. i think it would be a nice passing of the torch, even if it's weird for green arrow to pass it to the goddamn bat.

maybe bruce finds out that he actually hates oliver's methods and has nothing to learn from them and we have a bat v arrow episode lol

slickrickdesigns - 7/25/2016, 7:46 AM
@ALostCause - Hell No to Bruce learning from Oliver... Have him the most under ground Hero who shows up and calls out Oliver for being a weak sloppy vigilante who should probably retire and just fund other REAL heroes...
and I agree too much Soap Opera crap in the CW hero shows. We don't need a sappy moment in every episode. I want to see them get back to more action and detective work like Flash season 1. Less love interest crap. We get it super heroes need loving too. If they cut back on that I think the shows can get back to being cool again.

BloodyBed - 7/25/2016, 8:06 AM
@slickrickdesigns - ok what if Bruce thinks he should go to Oliver for training, but instead ends up teaching Oliver.

Idk about him having been around in the shadows, I think too many people would ask where he has been the whole time. His training would be a good excuse.

Another idea I had was for when he comes back he is played like a straight villain almost who comes after ALL the cw characters like a crossover "bad guy".

In reality he just wants to lash out at them for never paying attention to Gotham while he was gone, and he decides to force them to become a better global protection.

Idk just some fan fic I got rolling around in my brain.

BloodyBed - 7/25/2016, 8:07 AM
@slickrickdesigns - oh and I love a good sappy moment, but not with wooden acting and not 3-4 times an ep
slickrickdesigns
slickrickdesigns - 7/25/2016, 8:11 AM
@ALostCause - Cool idea, but I still like mine better. " I think too many people would ask where he has been the whole time."

He's friggin Batman and he takes care of Gotham. Create a big enough threat that makes him leave Gotham and reveal himself to the other heroes. Would be cooler if it was like the Predator 2 and Batman works in the shadows and we see him for quick moments and kick ass fight scenes. Everyone will treat him like he's some kind of monster and Oliver can run into him and have his ass handed to him when he tries to beat up batman. But ultimately I don't think Arrow should in anyway appear or act superior to Batman.
BloodyBed
BloodyBed - 7/25/2016, 8:19 AM
@slickrickdesigns - idk i feel like big enough threats have happened already to where he would've checked out starling and central. i see him as the type of person who would not stand for a giant terrorist attack anywhere, im almost surprised he didn't hop in a batsuit at the beginning of BvS lol.

and i think arrow acting superior to batman would be great, until he gets his ass handed to him. league members testing batman's patience is one of my favorite things in all of comics haha.

I don't know what to say about this show anymore. The first two seasons were top notch but it's gone so far downhill this last season. Ollicity is a problem sure but whiney Thea is another issue. It's too bad they don't use flashpoint as an excuse to erase the third and fourth seasons.
CaptDeadpool
CaptDeadpool - 7/25/2016, 7:53 AM
@ComicFan523 - I defend this show a lot hoping that it returns to the show that we all loved. Flashpoint would be the JumpStart it needs to do that.

Only concern I would have is that the producers would try and redo the entire show: shipwreck, island, Oliver's father surviving....

Maybe Flashpoint will be the turning point half way through the season when Stephen Smell said the show was going to get crazy?
