After the much-maligned third and fourth seasons of Arrow, Stephen Amell has been doing a lot of press rounds talking about a new direction for the show's fifth season. With the casting of Chad L. Coleman as the season's villain, along with the inclusion of several other vigilante-style characters, the show is clearly looking to change up its dynamic to redeem itself with fans. While speaking during a Facebook live chat, Amell revealed that he's had discussions with the debut episode's director James Bamford, (who also serves as Arrow's fight coordinator), and promises some historic action. According to Amell, the premiere for season 5 “has the opportunity for us to have the most vicious, violent one-shot in the history of network television.” Those are big words, especially coming after spectacular one-take fight sequences in Marvel's Daredevil (which is a Netflix show, as opposed to network television) and Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. “If [the premiere] is any indication, Arrow is going to be f---ing mean this year,” said Amell, “and that’s really exciting.” Amell also teased that season 5 would feature the return of a character from the past, “someone that we haven’t seen in two full seasons." Any guesses as to who that could be?
