BOX OFFICE: DEADPOOL Continues To Break Records As It Sails Past $300 Million Worldwide

Deadpool isn't just exceeding expectations, its shattering them! As the movie takes aim at $300 million worldwide by the end of today, you'll never believe how much it will likely have by next weekend...

As expected, Deadpool shattered records in North America this weekend with an incredible haul of over $150 million for the four day weekend. That means the Merc with the Mouth has topped the previous record (held by Fifty Shades of Grey with $93 million last year) and now has one of the highest all-time debuts for a superhero movie.

Among its other accolades are being the biggest R-Rated opener of all-time (easily beating $91.7 million taken by The Matrix Reloaded some time ago) and the highest debut ever for the month of February. With a budget of only $58 million, Deadpool is officially a hit.

It's overseas where things are getting interesting though. Deadpool is set to pass the $300 million mark today and it's thought that it will go as high as $475 million by the end of next weekend. That means this movie is on track to easily surpass Ant-Man, and we could be looking at it having a final cume as large as any of the much bigger Marvel Studios releases.

A sequel has already been semi-confirmed, but you can bet your life Fox are already talking about that long delayed X-Force movie now...

Can you imagine the haul if they'd made an accurate and good quality X-Film? I can't even think on how successful that would be (of course, they'd have to take a few years hiatus to erase from our minds the crap they've given us so far).
I haven't seen this movie, but by all accounts it sounds awesome. We'll go check it out this week for sure.

@Pathogen - If I were the President of Fox, I would going and punching Bryan Singer in the mouth, firing him and hiring Deadpool's team to take over the X-Universe.
