BOX OFFICE: DEADPOOL Continues To Exceed Expectations As It Passes $600 Million Worldwide
While Deadpool isn't going to join the $1 billion club, the sequel might based on these numbers! The latest international figures for the R-Rated release are in, and it's fair to say that it's a massive hit...
After remaining at #1 this weekend in North America with an impressive $31.5 million, Deadpool continues to do well overseas with a current haul of $324.1 million. That gives the movie a current worldwide cume of $609.7 million, an incredible amount which means it has grossed more than the likes of Iron Man, Ant-Man, Thor, and X-Men: The Last Stand. It's also closing in on the likes of Iron Man 2 and Thor: The Dark World, so it's definitely a hit and easily one of the most profitable releases of 2016. How high will it go? That remains to be seen. Did you guys watch it again this weekend?
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
Starring Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Ed Skrein, Gina Carano, and Brianna Hildebrand, Deadpool is currently playing in theaters. Stay tuned for more box office updates.
