BOX OFFICE: DEADPOOL Crosses $300 Million At Domestic Box Office

Another week down and the Deadpool cash-cow keeps raking in the dough for Fox. The film currently ranks 4th on the list of highest-grossing superhero origin films. Can you guess the 3 ahead of it?

By the end of the week, Deadpool will enter the top 50 highest grossing movies of all-time as it looks to eclipse the $300 million mark at the domestic box office.  After three straight weeks at the #1 spot, the film will likely fall to third place, behind Zootopia and London Has Fallen.  The three-day weekend frame should see the R-rated Deadpool accumulate another $36+ million worldwide, bringing its global box office total to $664 million. Not bad for a film that only cost $58 million to make.

Deadpool ~$300M currently ranks as the fourth-highest origin superhero film at the domestic box office, behind Iron Man (2008)  $318M, Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) $333M and Spider-Man (2002) $404M.  This year also has two more superhero origin films set for release - Doctor Strange (08/05/16) and Suicide Squad (11/4/16).

@FrankGarret - It's got to make over $743 mil to beat The Matrix Reloaded.

@soberchimera - It's third for R-rated domestic behind Passion of the Christ and American Sniper. Right now, its about 70 million behind Reloaded in worldwide.

Yay! I'm happy to see a new article up! Even if it is only an update on Deadpool.

I thought I'd be staring at a Superman Walking article ALL weekend

It’s really wonderful what they have accomplished with this movie. Deaadpool is now in the 2nd place with the biggest box office with a R-Rating (worldwide). Just coming about 120 million short (for now) to top 'The Matrix: Reloaded (742 million)'.

@ObviousTheCaptain - I imagine people at fox thinking; "we made completely unfaithful Fantastic Four and a faithful Deadpool, what is the result?"
So I would ask them wht to do with main X-Men team movies.

@xinstituto - Yeah, the right answer is to make a faithful adaptation of the main X-Men movies. But the X-Men main movies are making already alot of money. For me I don't mind the changes that they make, because I am not so caught up on the whole X-Men universe. But I can understand why people are asking for a thruly faithful X-Men cinamtic universe.

And NOW morons will complain "Superman is so outdated even Deadpool outgrossed him" as if Deadpool didn't outgross Captain America, Thor, TASM and is on par to outgross Iron Man 1 & 2.

@EroticNeurotic - Although I'm a huge Superman fan. MoS was not a good movie and it's understandable why Deadpool would've grossed more than it.

@EroticNeurotic - I don't think that it is a matter of Superman being outdated so much as Superman no longer being one of an elite few comic book properties. And even then it's not that Superman has fallen as much as others have been given a chance to rise up and swell the ranks. Hollywood used to think that the only comic properties that were worth anything were the ones that already had success and as such were known beyond comics. To future generations though, The old "elite" properties aren't going to stand out nearly as much, if at all.

@StarkPool94 - I'm cool with people not liking MoS. It's when the movie is targeted solely for existing that bugs me.
Invictor
Invictor - 3/6/2016, 8:46 AM
@EroticNeurotic - Superman is the most iconic fictional character of all time and he was always an A-lister. Most of the characters you mentioned were C-listers at most to the general audience. The fact that Deadpool grossed more than a Superman movie that constantly advertised itself as a movie produced by the person who did The Dark Knight Trilogy is something to talk about.
EroticNeurotic
EroticNeurotic - 3/6/2016, 8:49 AM
@Invictor - And it is going to out-gross the champion of MCU (which is the starter for current trend of shared universes) that is Iron Man so that should be discussed equally. I already said solely targeting MoS for existing is the douchebag way.
