Ryan Reynolds Talks DEADPOOL; "The Studio Is Reluctant To Pull The Trigger..."

Talking at a recent junket for animated movie The Croods, Ryan Reynolds has offered a brief update on Deadpool. It sounds as if the R-Rated screenplay is still causing the studio some major concerns. The Amazing Spider-Man 2's Emma Stone also praises the upcoming sequel.

Marvel fans have been waiting on the Deadpool movie for almost as long as DC ones have been waiting for Justice League, but the following update from Ryan Reynolds - who played Wade Wilson in X-Men Origins: Wolverine - doesn't make it sounds as if it will be moving into active development any time soon. You can find a transcription of what the Green Lantern star had to say below, but be sure to watch the interview to hear what Emma Stone had to say about The Amazing Spider-Man 2's screenplay. Many thanks to our friends over at Hey U Guys for the video.

"It's up to the studio. The studio I think is reluctant to pull the trigger on such a hard Rated-R script. Then the guys who wrote it and the producers won't make it unless it's that hard and, you know, raunchy."

I've read the script, it is amazing. Fox is stupid not to make it. One of the few scripts I've read that made me laugh out loud.

Deadpool pulls the trigger...he pulls it all the time...he can't stop pulling it!
That means he shoots a lot of people.
And masturbates.

I couldn't care any less about Deadpool, he's a character that just doesn't interest me at all. But all that aside I think If the Deadpool game is successful they'll go for it.

JakeTheSuperGuy@ Reynolds was not the problem for Green Lantern that shitty story, writing, and in some cases lackluster visuals is what killed Green lantern.

@JaketheSuperguy, Ryan was not the problem with the GL movie, I think you should check the movie again and see that the story was the one to blame, he did what he had to do.....

FalafelVsShawarma@ Deadpool is the only one that requires a rated R movie. Wolverine can get a way with a really hard PG-13 and I doubt a rated R Wolverine movie ever gets done because that would alienate the younger audience who watches these movies.

Deadpool sucks. And he's completely unknown outside the comic realm. Those two reasons alone means financial bomb.

Whatever about it that works in the comic (for the eight people who read it) won't translate to film.

Deadpool has plenty of marketability and Reynolds may not be perfect for other superheroes but his wisecracking, jock asshole attitude would come off perfect for he merc with a mouth. My local comic shop constantly sells out of their deadpool merch both new and old. The fans are there, FOX just don't like taking chances. A shame too cause 2 hours of Reynolds in a scarlet and black suit shooting people in the face while laughing and eating burritos and singing along to the soundtrack playing sounds wonderful to me.
Also, girls love him, I only started reading him because my fiance added it to the pull.
