FANCAST: Justice League International

FANCAST: Justice League International

While this is one film that certainly won't be happening anytime soon, the Justice League International series by Kieth Giffen has long been one of my favorite series of all time. So I decided to just throw together a little fancast. While these characters aren't likely to appear in the DCEU all together in this film, I'd love to see a lot of them pop up elsewhere!

Batman/Ben Affleck

This one's a given, I guess. Affleck's done great in the part so far, so even if I could change him, I wouldn't

Blue Beetle & Booster Gold/Toby Maguire & James Franco

The comedic duo at the heart of the JLI, Beetle and Booster have one of the best partnerships in comics. With a Blue & Gold movie supposedly in development at Warner Brothers, they'd be wise to look at  Maguire and Franco. Both carrying their fair share of comedic talent and sharing great chemistry from their time in the Spider-man trilogy, these two have what it takes to make Blue & Gold the next big thing. Plus, Warner Brothers are clearly fans of the Raimi films (See J.K. Simmons and Willem Dafoe) If they want some younger stars though, Zac Efron and Adam Devine would also be inspired choices

Martian Manhunter/David Oyelowo

Another character who is a must in the DCEU no matter what, J'Onn J'onnz is perhaps THE most criminally underrated member of the Justice League. Within the confines of the JLI, he truely came into his own, serving as the leader of an often uncontrollable team. You need an actor with a commanding voice, one who can be equally fit longing for Oreos, inspiring his teammates, or pondering the meaning of life. It's an amazing role, and one that an actor like Oyelowo could take to amazing places.

Guy Gardner/Aaron Paul

Having previously gone this route with my GLC fancast, it seemed obvious to carry it over here. DC would be missing a huge opportunity to not include him in their universe. Guy is a terrific character, one who audiences are sure to love, and he really hit a comedic high point during his time in the JLI.

Fire & Ice/? & Alicia Vikander

This dynamic duo marks up another iconic piece of the JLI, really pulling in the "International" part of the team. However, since the only Brazillian actress I'm actually familiar with (Monica Baccarin) is already involved in two other superhero properties, I leaving Bea blank for now. However, rapidly rising Swedish star Alicia Vikander seems like the perfect fit for Tora. While it may not be the most challenging role for an actress of her caliber, she's clearly not adverse to taking roles that are simply a ton of fun, and she'd perfectly capture Tora's naive innocence. Now, just to find a Brazillian with the energetic flare to compliment her...

Rocket Red/Simon Pegg

Hailing from Russia, this Soviet family man in a knockoff Iron Man suit would obviously need some slight reworking to his backstory, but is nonetheless a must have for the International expansion. With appreciation for the simple joys and life and his love for discovering new things about foreign cultures, though occaisonally being befuddled by them, Dmitri is a great part of the team. While Simon Pegg may not actually be russian, and casting a Russian would be ideal, he certainly has what it takes comedically and I trust would be able to transform his accent into the perfect Russian Red.

Captain Atom/Quinton Jackson

Another horribly underrated hero, ever-loyal soldier Captain Atom makes the perfect straight-man to the manic shenanigans of the JLI. Always ready for a fight, but often over his head, Atom is quite the fun character. While MMA fighter Quinton "Rampage" Jackson doesn't have too large of a film resume, he nailed his role in The A-Team as B.A. Baracus, carrying an on-screen confidence and intensity that would carry over perfectly to Captain Atom, perhaps finally elevating the hero to true star status.

Big Barda & Mr. Miracle/Jay Baruchel & Alexandra Daddario

Just a normal couple trying to live a steady life in middle class America. They also happen to be a warrior and master escape artist from the planet Apokloips. And one of them is the son of Highfather, leader of the New Gods. No biggie. Not only are these two perfectly set up for a venture on television, they're another of the key duos that make the JLI so great.Baruchel is hilarious, and his geeky, occaisonally whiny goofball attitude gels excellantly with Scott Free. Daddario, on the other hand is funny, gorgeous, and athletic, all musts for playing Bertha. As an extra plus, at 5'8, she's on the taller end of the Hollywood women spectrum, leaving less work for movie magic to make her stand tall over her husband.

Obernon/Danny Devito

You can't have Scott Free without his manager! And more so than any other casting on this list, perhaps, there can be no other for Obernon than the great Danny Devito.  And ho, it's not just because of his hieght! Devito perfectly emobodies the character, from the first time I picked up JLI, I've read Oberon's lines as coming from Devito. It's simply perfect.

Maxwell Lord/Jamie Foxx

Foxx was burned once before in his previous superhero outing, but Warner Brothers should easily be able win him back to the genre with the chance to portray the morally ambigous, self-proclaimed "manager" of the JLI. Not only does it give him a chance to utilize his comedic side, it gives him plenty of chances to work his dramatic acting as he traces Lord's path from charismatic showman to terrifying supervillain.

Lord Manga Kahn/Michael Richards

For a team this big, you need a big threat for them to face! And what better/worse a threat than the illustrious Lord Manga Kahn, ruler of The Cluster? And to play him? None other than Kramer himself, Michael Richards. It's easy to imagine him pacing the halls of the Cluster, unnesecarily monologuing and shouting to himself. Let the bargaining commence!

Finally a good cast comes up.

- Nah, I'd rather have another duo for Blue Beetle and Booster Gold. How about Jake Johnson and Travis van Winkle?

- Can't disagree with Martin Luther King Jr. as Martian Manhunter.
- Well well well! A precise casting choice for Ice. But a good choice for Fire would be Christian Serratos.

- No way do I see Daddario as Big Barda. This may be because I haven't seen Percy Jackson, but her voice doesn't really have that commanding presence. Now how about 5' 11" Alyssa Sutherland?

- I don't think Mister Miracle mirrors the personality of a Jay Baruchel character. I'm kinda used to how he was performed in the Justice League animated series.
- Danny Devito was on Kevin Maguire's wish list to be seen playing Obernon. Can't disagree there!
- Nah, after Electro, Jamie Foxx is best kept away from comic book movies.
- Lord Manga Khan is supposed to be funny?

Interesting cast.

My pick for Booster is Jake McDOrman of Limitless fame.

I'd love to see Tobey Maguire and James Franco as BB and BG, but its probably never gonna happen. Strongly disagree with the captain atom casting (im not racist). Maybe Aaron Taylor Johnson as Cpt. Atom?

I love this cast!

I don't like Baruchel as Mister Miracle but that's it.

Aaron Paul as Guy is amazing.

I can dig daddario as Big Birda she's itching for a hero/ villain role. Jamie Foxx is a huge draw so A+ another plus is David Oyelowo
as MM I've used him a number of times. Overall good work I give a solid B+
