Marvel's first family fights the mole man on what I think would be the perfect adaptation of the Fantastic Four! Fancast included.

So, I have recently ended my finals and I finally have time to sit down and write the damn ideas for cbm articles that distracted me from studying. I just have tons of ideas for "my version" articles for the SW prequels/ sequels, Tomorrowland, Prometheus, Universal Monsters and several DC and Marvel movies.

The Fantastic 4, Marvel's first family, are among my favourite comicbook characters. Reed, Ben, Susan and Johnny are not superheroes, they are explorers. They are a family that goes on adventures, always in search for the unknown. It is just sad that Fox couldn't get the characters right after 2 attempts (even though I do think there are good elements in both adaptations) and that the best Fantastic Four movie is The Incredibles.

This is my version of the Fantastic Four:

Fancast:

Zachary Quinto, Emily Blunt, Garret Hedlund and Joel Edgerton. Nuff said.

Background:

I am one of the optimistic guys. I imagine Marvel will get the rights for both X-men and F4. Infinity Wars ends with the Terrigenesis Mists spreading through the world and turning many people into inhumans (obviously, the inhumans would be the MCU's version of mutants). Phase 4 would be set 3 years after this, and start with a cool accurate adaptation of Xmen First Class, providing a refreshing start for phase 4. After this, a Fantastic Four movie would follow. The 3 year time jump would provide a justification for not doing a whole origin story movie for the F4. I must also say that people are fed up with Victor Von Doom, so I would not introduce him until the sequel.

The Movie:

The Intro would be a cool montage of footage explaining who the F4 and the Future Foundation are, in the style of a Tv documentary. A female reporter’s voice over would explain how Reed Richards, Ben Grimm, Susan and Johnny Storm started the Future Foundation when they were young, dreaming to change the future. The Future Foundation would be some kind of Elon Musk-type project. The voice over would simply mention that after a trans-dimensional accident transformed the 4 friends 3 years ago, they became famous celebrities. Together, they have made outstanding developments in physics and anatomy, they have explored distant planets, parallel dimensions and ancient civilizations. Here the documentary would show some footage of these adventures as well as some fun interviews to the 4 protagonists (I imagine a really cool brief clip of Jimmy Fallon and Jhonny Storm). Finally, the screen would go dark, and the Fantastic Four logo would appear.

After the logo, the movie would cut to the 4 protagonists in some kind of spaceship about to go on a new adventure: they are going to the centre of the earth. Eventually they find the moloids. I don’t want to be very specific in this so I leave it to your imagination. Maybe they could be sedated and captured, meet the Moleman (a survivor of an earlier failed mission to the centre of the earth), fight some big monster and fun stuff like that. Eventually they would escape to the surface and the end of the movie would be a big, cool fight in New York against a couple of big monsters. The movie’s MAIN focus would be on the character relations. We all know the basic relations between this amazing family. Maybe the theme would be about how dangerous but important it is to stay curious because sometimes there are some really terrifying things going on right in front of our eyes and we cant always see them. I think there is big potential for some really deep and emotional scenes of character development in the dark depths of our planet. It would be cool to tease Dr Doom through a news reporter talking about the human rights infringements going on in Latveria or something.

The Sequel:

Victor Von Doom. The perfect villain. It will always bug fans why has Fox found it so hard to get the character right. Dr Doom should be a brilliant and ruthless dictator. He did not and should not get his powers in the same accident as the F4. I will go further (and not everyone will agree with this) to say that he should not meet Reed until after they get their powers. This is what I would do: In the beginning of the movie, Victor tries to replicate a Future Foundation model for a Quantum Energy Generator (or something), but the experiment goes wrong and an explosion horribly scars and almost kills him. With the help of the top scientists of Latveria, he is able to survive through a suit of armor, much like Darth Vader. This is why Vader resents Reed, as he feels that Reed is laughing at his failure. Victor improves his armor adding lasers and stuff so its more like Ironman’s. As for the plot of the movie, it is actually really simple: Victor sends some of his Doom-Bots to steal some technology from the Baxter Building, the F4 stop them, and you can imagine the remaining 70% of the movie. The focus would be on the relationship between Victor and Reed, that would eventually become really personal.

Other sequels:
-F4 3: Galactus and the Silver Surfer
-F4 4: Kang the Conqueror. (By the start of this movie, Franklin and Valeria Richards are already born and they age very quickly)
-F4 5: Anhilus. (This movie ends with the death of Jhonny Storm).
-F4 6/7: This would be a two-part adaptation of Jonathan Hickman’s incredibly awesome run’s finale. Have Galactus fighting the Celestials, Jhonny Storm coming back at the end of part 1 in control of Anhilus’s swarm, the multiple evil Reed Richardses, the Kree, the Inhumans, and all the awesome stuff. Man, I freakin loved that run.

Please let me know what you think in the comments below!

there's a lot of cinematic potential in that Galactus/Mad Celestials John Hickman storyarc! but as the sixth part of a massive series? AND it's a two-parter? needs better planning, Fantastic Four can't be a Star Wars sized 6-part franchised - especially not if Avengers is only getting 3/4 films.

@TucksDeluxe Avengers is geting at least 10 more movies. Underworld is starting production for a 5th movie, Fast an Furious is in its 8th and they all look the same. I think that you can make at least 15 really good Fantastic Four movies if you want to. That "way of the Western" thing is just not going to happen because this movies are just TOO different. I believe that Hickman's finale is just too massive for a single movie and it serves really well as a big serie's finale. It would be like the Infinity Wars of Avengers (one could argue that The Avengers already have 9 movies). Anyway, thanks for the feedback!

Wait, now that i think about it you are right. I should scrap the kang movie, it doesnt have any role to play and that way the franchise will be 2 clear trilogies. I'll edit the article this night haha. I really want to see kang in the big screen though, as well as Namor (you cant have a solo movie for him because aquaman).
