Five Actresses Who Could (And Should) Play Lara Croft in the New Tomb Raider Movie

A reboot of Tomb Raider is on the horizon said to be based on the video-game reboot of 2013. Check out my top 5 choices for the Lara Croft role!

#5 - ASHLEY GREENE
Ashley certainly resembles Croft and while she hasn’t had the best acting roles in films thus far, I believe that with the right material she can play a solid Lara Croft in her 20s.

#4 - EMILIA CLARKE
Game of Thrones is enough proof that Clarke can play a tough badass woman while maintaining a level of fear, inexperience, and sex appeal. However her commitments to Game of Thrones and the newly rebooted Terminator franchise make the chances of her doing Tomb Raider unlikely. However she is still a good choice in my opinion.

#3 - LAUREN COHAN
She might be a bit older than the early 20s Lara that the studio is likely looking for, but Cohen (who portrays one of the better characters on The Walking Dead) has the right look and intensity. She has yet to have a major film role so a franchise role with potential longevity could be a suitable option when she (inevitably) is killed off of (or leaves) the TWD at some point.

#2 - TATIANA MASLANY
Likely the most versatile actress on the list, one needs only to look at Orphan Black to see that she can play a wide range of characters. Most importantly she is an up-and-coming actor who would likely want to sign onto a major franchise to gain more recognition.

#1 - EMMA WATSON
Not the obvious choice, I know, but I think Emma Watson can pull-off a fantastic Lara Croft; especially if the story is going in the route of the reboot, where Croft is an out of college young woman going on here first real adventure. Emma not only has the look, but can certainly portray the development of Lara from a fragile girl into a tough woman Hell-bent on surviving (with the help of some training of course). What’s also important to note is that Emma, more so than any other actress on the list, has name recognition and is capable of carrying a franchise.

Honorable mentions: Felicity Jones, Janet Montgomery, Kaya Scodelario, and Olivia Wilde

Who would you like to portray a young Lara Croft in the reboot based on the video-game from 2013?

I have always thought Lauren Cohan would be good for the role.

I don't think Watson could work, she's not the action actress type. That's why it's funny in "this is the end".

Kaya Scodelario should play Lara Croft in the reboot imo.

Tatiana is one hell of an actress. Although I think Emilia Clarke looks a lot like Lara Croft!

I'm kinda rooting for Megan Fox to be honest. She's had a tough time and I think she deserves a role that can revitalise her career. Lara Croft could do that.

Hayley Atwell or Gemma Arterton are the 2 best choices.

While Clark does play a badass character on GOT it is more as a leader and speaker where she comes across powerful as opposed to physically like Croft would be.

As an actress Green made Stewart look decent in those Twilight abortions.

Cohan is decent. I wouldn't be upset with her casting.

I am not familiar with Orphan Black so I can't really comment.

I like Emma a lot. But I have trouble seeing her as a badass woman.

Hayley Atwell is my choice! But I'm not sure if she'll have time to do that since she's going to be at the Agent Carter TV show...

I'm with Sid, Wilde would work. If not her then I'd want Gemma Arterton

Lauren Cohan and Emma Watson are the sexiest women alive. I'd be A-okay with either of them in this role (or any role in anything, really).

Hayley Atwell is one of the women that I'd definitely go lesbian for.

I just got done with the Tomb Raider game. [frick]ing brilliant. Loved the hell out of it. I really don't know who can play her based on looks. It should be a fresh face, new comer

None of these are bad, but my choice is Olga Kurylenko, from Oblivion!

Thanks for the responses! I agree Atwell would make a great Lara Croft, however given the fact that the movie is based on a young Lara Croft (early 20s) I don't know if she would be the best choice.
