First off, I apologize if there are mistakes since english is not my first language.
This is a list about possible spinoff movies/books based on the Harry Potter series that could further explore the Wizarding World created by the awesome JK Rowling.
Obviously, i am not including Fantastic Beasts or a story about Harry's adventures as an Auror (which will very probably be covered on the upcoming stage play "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child").
10. Quidditch
We are having a Fantastic Beasts movie, and I think it would be really nice to have a movie based on its companion charity-book, “Quidditch Through the Ages”. Maybe it should be based on a single team of outcasts who end up being champions of the world. Throughout the movie, they could tell, through flashbacks, the awesome stories from the book about how Quidditch was invented, the famous players, famous matches and the other broomstick magical sports.
9. Aurors
Aurors are, essentially, the wizarding world equivalent of police officers and military. They are trained to investigate crimes related to the Dark Arts, and apprehend or detain Dark wizards (in the books, Harry ends up being an Auror after school). There is a lot to explore here, and it would be very interesting to see a movie about a group of these guys investigating a crime in the 60’s London.
8. Voldemort
I would not be a fan of this spinoff because I don’t really understand Voldemort’s motivations and we already know the story but I am including it in the list because it is a fan-favourite. Having said that, we do need more movies with evil protagonists and Voldemort’s story (creating the Horrocruxes, etc) is very rich.
7. Dumbledore
Dumbledore has an incredible story that only book readers know about. A movie about his student years with his friend Elphias Doge, meeting his phoenix Fawkes, his story with Gellert Grindelwald and their search for the Deathly Hallows would be a incredible to watch. The problem with this one is that, again, we already know the story.
6. Next Generation
This spinoff would focus on Harry's children's adventures on Hogwarts. I'm not sure I would love to see this spinoff because it would be really hard for Harry’s children to live up to their father’s incredible story, and what makes Harry’s story special is it starts with him having an unhappy life and not knowing he is a wizard. It would just feel weird for me if his children’s stories were smaller. This does not mean that I wouldn’t love to see Ron getting angry about his daughter dating Draco’s son Scorpius or Albus Potter stealing the marauders map but if there was a movie about this it should be really big.
5. The Founders
Godric Gryffindor, Salazar Slytherin, Rowena Ravenclaw and Helga Hufflepuff were the founders of Hogearts, living around the 10th century. I want to see how the wizarding world worked in the middle ages, this is where wizards and dragons belong. Maybe even Merlin could make an appearance. I want to see Gryffindor use his sword to fight a dragon, I want to see a young Merlin catch the Golden Snitch, I want to see Salazar Slythering raise his Basilisk. I just wonder if this would be too far from the heart and spirit of the original Harry Potter stories.
4. The Marauders
This is probably the spinoff that most fans want to see. The marauders were James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Petigrew and they all could turn into animals (a deer, a dog, a wolf and a rat respectively). They are said to have discovered more Hogwarts hidden rooms than any other student in its history. The story about the creation of the marauders map, becoming animagi, the First Wizarding War, the foundation of the Order of the Phoenix, Lily Potter, Severus Snape, Regulus Black, there is just a lot to tell and we could revisit a story about Hogwarts students. The problem with this one is that we have already seen that and everybody knows how that story ends.
3. What if muggles found out about wizards?
I think this is a very interesting concept with a lot of potential that should be explored. I am very probably alone in this but I have imagined a cool concept: With a brief introduction, start 5 years after the wizards were revealed. Magic has been studied a lot (without important results) and wizards are solving the world’s problems (poverty, energy, resources, war, etc). On the other hand, wizards are benefiting of muggle inventions such as internet and they are discovering how the world actually works (math, biology, astronomy, psychology, etc.). However, A LOT of spells and charms would be banned (mind reading, invisibility, love potions, memory elimination, even apparition). I think that many (not all) wizards would resist this, and the inevitable result would be a war. Moreover, many religious muggles would see wizards as demons and there would be a very interesting dynamic. I imagine a very political and adult HBO series. "House of cards meets Harry Potter meets True Blood". Events would happen all around the world and there is a lot to explore. However, i understand that im probably alone in this, but i would LOVE to see it.
2. New Harry Potter Story
Like most Harry Potter fans, i just love these characters, and i just can’t have enough of them. I felt very empty when i read the last book. It just feels weird that for seven years Harry's life was constant trouble and fighting and suddenly everything is over. I just can’t imagine him just forming a boring family and not doing something awesome or putting his life in danger. So here is my idea: In the books, a certain "tour" is mentioned, the "Grand Tour". Apparently, it is common for wizards to travel around the world after they graduate on a trip called the "Grand Tour". And i think that this is exactly what the Harry Potter series needs, to show us the rest of the world. After the last book, Hermionie goes back to finish school (Harry has a whole year to rest) and when she graduates, Harry, Ron, Hermionie and Ginny decide to go together on this Tour, with the Weasley's Flying Ford Anglia and a magic tent to travel the world. They could visit Beauxbatons, Drumstrang, Romania (and Hagrid's dragon Norbert), USA, South America, Africa, Egypt, Arabia (and drive flying carpets), China, the list goes on. This could be simply amazing.
1. New School
In the end, i think that the Harry Potter book's heart and spirit is that it is just a long, amazing, coming-of-age story. I think that if i want to see another story about this world, it should be about a new boy (or girl) receiving a school invitation for a magic school. I want to explore a new school, new characters, new spells, creatures and magical objects. The obvious choice would be the american school, but it would also be nice to see Beauxbatons, the white castle. I want to feel like a kid again, make friends, learn, explore, amaze, and fight. I want to discover magic again.
