Batman Beyond Will Be Back in 2010 - Plus LEEE777 Casts Batman Beyond!

The future version of Gotham City will be getting its Dark Knight again. DC Comics' Dan DiDio announced, "There will be a Terry McGinnis mini-series early next year. We’ve heard the fans, we’ve heard everyone’s interest. And right now we’re planning to put out a Batman Beyond mini-series in 2010!"
Cool news right? Growing up with Batman: The Animated Series plus Batman Beyond and all the creations in the Timm/Diniverse, this is just great news. Any of you readers who aren’t familiar with Terry McGinnis Batman Beyond, let me fill you in.

About ten years ago, Batman Beyond aired introducing us to the Gotham City of Tomorrow and the wild and amazing adventures of the future Batman!

Batman Beyond, also known as Batman of the Future, is an American animated television series created by The WB Television Network in collaboration with DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation as a continuation of the Batman legacy. It began airing on January 10, 1999, and ended its run on January 6, 2002. With 52 episodes spanning three seasons and one direct-to-video film under its belt, the series was then put on hold for the new Justice League animated series despite the network having announced plans for a fourth season. However, there was a short-lived spin-off, The Zeta Project. In The Zeta Project's first season episode "Shadows", there is a crossover with Batman Beyond; in this continuity, the story takes place between the episode "Countdown" and the series finale "Unmasked." Batman Beyond is set in the chronological future of the DC animated universe.

The pilot episode begins in 2019, where an aging Batman, equipped with a high-tech Batsuit, takes on the kidnappers of Bunny Vreeland (the daughter of Veronica Vreeland, one of Bruce Wayne's many girlfriends). During the battle, Batman suffers a heart attack which leaves him unable to fight, forcing him to betray a life-long principle by threatening a criminal with a gun. Because of this, Bruce Wayne retires the Batman persona, vowing never to revive it. It is implied by virtue of his continuing to fight crime long after he should have, and his retaining of the costumes worn by Robin, Nightwing, and Batgirl, that even before this point something horrible transpired that caused Bruce to sever his ties with the Justice League and forbid his allies to ever again assume their alter-egos. (The events which caused all of this are revealed in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker.)

The story then fast-forwards to 2039 in Neo-Gotham, now a futuristic megalopolis equipped with staggering high rises and hovering/flying vehicles. Bruce Wayne is now a recluse, living in bitter isolation with no companion but his guard dog, Ace. Terry McGinnis is an athletic 16-year-old high school student and reformed troublemaker with a deeply ingrained sense of personal justice. His first act in the series is to defend a fellow passenger on a commuter rail from a member of the Jokerz gang. After trying to defend his girlfriend from an entire gang of Jokerz, Terry is forced to engage in a high-speed chase which ultimately ends on the grounds of Wayne Manor, where a fleeing Terry runs into the elderly Bruce Wayne. Bruce and Terry fend off the Jokerz side-by-side, but the exertion aggravates Bruce's heart condition. Terry helps Bruce back to the manor and, after Bruce nods off for a bit, stumbles upon the entrance to the Batcave. He is chased out by a recovered and angered Bruce.

Terry returns home to discover that his father had been murdered, apparently by the vengeful Jokerz. Soon after, he finds out that the man actually responsible for the murder was Derek Powers, CEO of a merged Wayne-Powers (Bruce had foiled the merger repeatedly during his time as Batman, but evidently gave in soon after retiring the cowl) and his father's employer, because he possessed knowledge of illegal chemical weapons being produced by Powers. Terry "borrows" the Batsuit, intending to bring Powers to justice. Bruce initially opposes his efforts and vehemently demands Terry return the suit (going so far as to paralyze the suit while Terry is still inside it, which almost leads to his death), but Terry is able to convince him otherwise, and subsequently defeats Powers. Realizing that crime and corruption are running rampant in Gotham, Bruce offers Terry the chance to assume the role of Batman.

The Batman of the future is born!

LEEE777 - Well i love the news but how sweet would a Live Action movie by Warner Brothers be? Well here's the main cast that would be perfect below.

Milo Ventimiglia as Batman =

Good actor in Heroes and would steal the Batman of the future role hands down.

Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne =

Perfect part for the aging Bruce Wayne and if you don't know Michael Keaton he has done two little movies called Batman plus Batman Returns!

Mark Hamill as Joker =

Yep he needs a shot at the Joker of the future, after all the animated shows and Joker in the video games too, he deserves the shot of being the Joker on the big screen. Anyway who doesn't love Mark Hamill as the Joker?

Well hope you liked it Bat fans and bring on the mini series! ; )

Of course CRISPIN GLOVER would make the best present day JOKER and BRITTANY MURPHY as HARLEY QUINN! Perfect be it the next BATMAN movie or so or even SUPERMAX!

LEEE777 - 9/1/2009, 4:05 PM
Milo could deffinately do a great job as Terry, and the rest of your casting is spot on! I too think Mark deverse to be the JOker on screen

However, I also think that Sean Gestl could pull of a pretty good Terry..he's 18 years old, in very good physical shape,5'9, and has studdied acting for 6 years, currently studdying acting at a very well recieved college and is currently working in the Greek Tragedy Medea...aka gestlmutant.

Just throwing that out there, lol
gestlmutant - 9/1/2009, 4:11 PM
Sean Gestl, nice one @ Gestlmutant! ; )
LEEE777 - 9/1/2009, 4:14 PM
LEEE you ROCK!!!! I love this show!!!! Great picks as well, I agree 100% man!!!!!!
TheCritic17 - 9/1/2009, 4:29 PM
CRITIC @ Cool! ; )

An yep, cant wait for BATMAN BEYOND the mini series to come back!
LEEE777 - 9/1/2009, 4:32 PM
I remember reading that before batman begins was pitched WB thought of making a Batman Beyond movie. While I love nolan's batman I've always wondered how a batman beyond movie would have fared.
I hope this mini series comes to fruition, it's an awesome character that deserves more screen time.
thwhtGuardian - 9/1/2009, 4:33 PM
@LEEE: Me too, that was one of the best Batman tv shows ever!!!!
TheCritic17 - 9/1/2009, 4:35 PM
I hate this show and the idea, to me Batman isn't the same without Bruce Wayne as Batman
charbelelnasr - 9/1/2009, 4:35 PM
This is awesome news. I loved BB and a live-action one is probably the closest we'll ever get to seeing a Batman TV show for a long time.

Great Article and Cast @Lee
BatmanKnight - 9/1/2009, 4:37 PM
Thanx @ BatmanKight, cheers dude! ; )

Thwhknight @ Hell yeah!!!

CRITIC @ It so was man!
LEEE777 - 9/1/2009, 4:44 PM
@LEEE: So its only gonna be a mini-series, not a full-length one???
TheCritic17 - 9/1/2009, 4:47 PM
CRITIC @ Yeah but the mini series will be something like four animated movies maybe, an if it does good ratings no doubt the series will come back, after all look at FUTURAMA!

Another top animated show!

; )
LEEE777 - 9/1/2009, 4:53 PM
Hey look what i found, now that would make a cool company crossover comic!!!

LEEE777 - 9/1/2009, 4:58 PM
@LEEE: Yeah!!! That'd be an awesome crossover, especially since both are set in the future... I couldn't really get into Futurama, but I know what you mean
TheCritic17 - 9/1/2009, 5:00 PM
Damn, it would be well sweet and CRITC @ check out an episode or two, its quite a funny show, maybe you saw a couple of crap ones lol, BENDER the robot cracks me up!

; D
LEEE777 - 9/1/2009, 5:04 PM
@LEEE: In the episodes I saw I did think Bender was pretty funny, all right, be back later, one again, awesome picks
TheCritic17 - 9/1/2009, 5:05 PM
see the JLA episode 'epilogue'...turns out bruce is terry's biological father....wicked cool story
Anil Rickly - 9/1/2009, 5:15 PM
I can't disagree with any of them Lee. Great job.

For Terry, I also think Sam Witwer could pull it off.

And Kevin Conroy could also be a great old Bruce. He's the one who's always voiced Bats in the animated universe.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/1/2009, 5:17 PM
Awesome job LEEE! Casting is perfect and Im psyched for the series!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Milo is perfect for this part. Def the number 1 choice
IronMarvel - 9/1/2009, 5:19 PM
Awesome news LEEE777

I've been missing this show like crazy. When they did that episode in the JLU series, I thought that was the final bone they threw to the fans. But this would be great news. I wonder if they will pick it up from there, with Terry in his mid-late twenties, or go back to him at 18/19 years old.

Either way... gimmie gimmie
BillyBlack - 9/1/2009, 5:20 PM
Perfect cast..

Brittany Murphy as Harley Quinn.. Oh man

I have a major crush on her..
Imran - 9/1/2009, 5:21 PM
Yes!!!! Batman Beyond was the shit! I am so psyched about this!!

Hey where's lc, i'm suprised she didn't already make a comment about licking lee's balls and telling him to shut up by now

hahaha just kidding lc! ;)
Duhdaduh - 9/1/2009, 5:24 PM

grif - 9/1/2009, 5:26 PM
Beyond kicked ass. A lot of people don't like it because Bruce wasn't Bats, but things need to be refreshed sometimes.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/1/2009, 5:26 PM
and charbelelnasr, I hope for your sake you havent read any of the recent Batman comics lately pal!!

Anil, I never knew that! that is sooo cool man!

and I have to agree with everyone else lee, milo is a great casting for terry! and hamil would be a sweet joker!!!!!
Duhdaduh - 9/1/2009, 5:29 PM
HOLY BAT SHOCK! Im in main an i gotta go out arghhhh lol, no fair!

Thanx TYLER @ Cool picks too man, KEVIN CONROY nice touch! ; )

IronMarvel @ Billy @ Imran ; )

Duhdaduh @ Lmao Dude an good man! ; D

Cheers guys @ bk soon.
LEEE777 - 9/1/2009, 5:32 PM
Hamill deserves a shot at playing Joker on screen.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/1/2009, 5:39 PM
I like Milo as Terry and Mark as Joker, but I would say Clint Eastwood as Bruce.
stupify_me - 9/1/2009, 5:39 PM
Freakin' Batman Beyond... thought I'd never see the day

LEEE @ I have to say it man, I'm not usually down with your casting choices but... this time I agree with you. Good casting LEEE.
LexLuthor - 9/1/2009, 5:40 PM
I thought this show was great! I cant wait for this!!
Going to have to hunt all the old episodes again to rewatch them before this starts again!!
TheAnswer - 9/1/2009, 5:40 PM
OK for the Beyond fans this is great news. I jus could never get into the show.
StrangemannX09 - 9/1/2009, 5:40 PM
sucks for you Strangemann the show was the jam and only got better as it went.

talk about usually not agreeing with someone... I have to say stupify_me is right about Clint, he is much more age appropriate and has that grissly toughness.

I always thought if they did a BB movie, that Paul Newman would be the perfect choice for the elder bats. Alas, the time ran out of his hour glass before it could even be discussed.
BillyBlack - 9/1/2009, 5:54 PM
Love Batman Beyond! I've got all 3 seasons and the Return of the Joker movie. Rabidly awaiting this miniseries. I wonder if DC will bring Paul Dini in to write it?
longbowhunter - 9/1/2009, 6:00 PM
LEEE This Casting is brilliant! Love it man. I have seen a lot of shotty casting on here lately but this is definitely the high class stuff I expect from my fellow comic fans.
LastSon1027 - 9/1/2009, 6:04 PM
I love Batman Beyond and I still be watching the reruns on video on demand. I can't wait for them to bring this back.
Bandrews1 - 9/1/2009, 6:05 PM
1 thing about this article I do like is the choice for Mark Hamill to be The Joker. Ive been saying that since forever.
StrangemannX09 - 9/1/2009, 6:05 PM
I think Clint Eastwood would make a better Bruce Wayne
BlackCat1 - 9/1/2009, 6:15 PM
they had a batman beyond script when batman begins started
SHHH - 9/1/2009, 6:17 PM
clint is a good choice too. i mean, i like bringing back the guy who brought us the first two batman movies, but hell clint eastwood is the freakin man!!!

Duhdaduh - 9/1/2009, 6:20 PM
The return of the Joker movie was probs one of the best Batman animated movies there are, its vioently amazing.

Eastwood would be Bad Ass as Old Batman. He was awesome in Gran Tornino, and its kind of the same character. A guy that used ti fight bad guys gets discovered by a kid and teaches the kid to be a better person

By the way @Lee i saw what you wrote on my Green Arrow story, and thank you for the complements and i just started writing the sequel for it.
BatmanKnight - 9/1/2009, 6:25 PM
Yeah, I've always said Eastwood would be awesome as Bruce in a Batman Beyond flick. Unfortunately he's done with acting now, and I don't think it'd be too likely that he'd come out of retirement for something like this.
dizzongster - 9/1/2009, 6:32 PM
LEX @ Cheers lol!

LAST SON @ Cool dude, glad ya liked it! ; )

GUYS @ Clint would make a great old BATS but unfortatly he ain't acting in movies anymore, after his last movie! I always thought he'd make a great Miller's DARK KNIGHT!

Oh yeah, anyone who hasn't seen my 116 AVENGERS CAST post and copy this if you want! =

http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/001/news/?a=8886

As i put SPIDER-GIRL up i thought i'd show you these =

WILLARD HOLLAND from the OC would be a gr8 SPIDER-GIRL, of couse not in a regular SPIDEY movie of course lol, NEXT AVENGERS or something! ; D

LEEE777 - 9/1/2009, 6:38 PM
DIZZONGSTER @ you beat me to it dude! ; D
LEEE777 - 9/1/2009, 6:40 PM
So LEEE7 I like your picks! cooool! especially your Harley Quin! DEFINITELY Britney Murphy all the way.. if not as a back up Isla Fisher. They both are so Harley to me!

What about Catwoman?! gotta have a Catwoman! common now =) Photobucket

btw thanks for the wb =)
KeepItReal - 9/1/2009, 6:41 PM
Brittany Murphy is perfect for Quinn.

Carla Gugino for Catwoman :)

InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/1/2009, 6:43 PM
KEEP your welcome, hope ya backs much better too!

Hey did you ever see my AVENGERS 116 Article? Take a look!

: )

ISLA FISHER cool! She'd also make a cool POISON IVY or even BAT GIRL!

CATWOMAN, hmmmm,

Not bad CATWOMAN TYLER, as long as its not MEGAN FOX im happy, i can see her as something else though lol.
LEEE777 - 9/1/2009, 6:46 PM
Carla Gugino for Catwoman huh....
Photobucket

I cant help thinking there is someone else better suited. I love Carla. I think she is sexy, beautiful, talented actress but is that all there is? They throw her name out for just about everything... there has to be more of a variety... I have it on the tip of my hands but it eludes me who Catwoman should be.... it'll come to me...:p

Isla Fisher as Batgirl...ewwwww... like Alicia whatever her name is in Batman forever?! no!! I couldnt take her seriously and it made me embarrassed for her as a femal to be so.... buttery... nah... need someone more serious for Batgirl..
KeepItReal - 9/1/2009, 6:49 PM
LEE@ thnx for the amazing article and Awesome casting......
spider11 - 9/1/2009, 6:50 PM
Megan Fox should stay away from major comic book movie roles.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/1/2009, 6:50 PM
But hell no to ROBIN being in a BATMAN movie! ; D

Your right @ TYLER!

Spider11 @ Cool, glad you liked it dude, thanx a lot man!

; )
LEEE777 - 9/1/2009, 6:51 PM
Hey LEEE7... yeah my backs getting better but the slightest thing seems to set it off though. =( course having young kids doesnt help... hehe... coool I will definitely check out your avengers article. =P

god... pleeeease no more Megan! that happy hooker is still around?!
KeepItReal - 9/1/2009, 6:54 PM
Robin can be in a Batman movie, but not Nolan's movies. His Wayne is still young, he is still several movies away from a Robin story.

InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/1/2009, 6:54 PM
I would have picked James Brolin for the older Bruce Wayne, I think he ties into Christian Bale rather well. Other choices were dead on!
ASSASSIN666 - 9/1/2009, 6:55 PM
@leee great job pal. I absolutely would love to see a live action flick of this and would love to see hamill as the Joker. Again great article and cool picks.
spideysweb - 9/1/2009, 6:58 PM
KEEP @ How about LAUREN COHAN?? Good actress an i think INSTIGATOR pointed it out to me, yeah she did, i reckon she'd be a perrrrrrrrrrrrfect CATWOMAN! ; D

Though one of the hot favorites KATE would be cool too, though she'd make a great HELLCAT too!

An cool ya backs gettin' better, no laughing then lol.

ASSASSINS @ Cool and thanx man!

Spideysweb @ Cheers pal, yeah ol' HAMILL would be so sweet! ; )
LEEE777 - 9/1/2009, 7:10 PM
HOnestly guys I doubt Nolans going to do another Bat flick.
StrangemannX09 - 9/1/2009, 7:14 PM
hell ya, good picks man

CBK - 9/1/2009, 7:14 PM
I saw Cohan in Supernatural season 3, and I got to say, she was bad. Maybe it's because female characters have never been the show's strongest point, but I just don't know about that one.

Kate would be great (high five for rhyming) as well, but Gugino is still my top pick for Catwoman. I wonder who will be the first to say Angelina Jolie for Catwoman...
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/1/2009, 7:18 PM
Wow, great picks Leee! I'm excited about this, since I've always loved Batman Beyond.
Bamf7 - 9/1/2009, 7:22 PM
KILLA @ Cheers! ; )

Bamf7 @ Cool man an thanx, yeah its pretty cool, cant wait either!

TYLER @ Yeah i wonder who's gonna say JOLIE lol, though she wouldn't be too bad!

Rite bbl guys gotta go out dammit! ; )
LEEE777 - 9/1/2009, 7:31 PM
Michael Keaton for an aged Bruce Wayne?!?! LEEE! Let go of your foolish notions of nostalgia.

This is a no-brainer. Clint Eastwood! He played the same character in Gran Torino:

Phinehas - 9/1/2009, 7:36 PM
bat sig

I loved your picks LEEE! Gotta get someone for catwoman and then we're straight. I think Kate... I never heard of LAUREN COHAN... yes...some fresh picks!

Hi Phinehas!!

Hey what about Jordana Brewster for Batgirl? Someone in keeping with the "librarian" look who is the daughter of commisioner Gordon & with the brains & all the aresenol and utilities at her disposal. Someone mature, conservative, intelligent, quick. She would look PERFECT I think.

Jordana BrewsterPhotobucket

KeepItReal - 9/1/2009, 7:37 PM
KIR; I've always thought she could pull down the Hutress role.

Thoughts?

I never liked Batgirl. Even as a kid. She's an unoriginal character that is a gender class affirmative action response. She has no depth. I'd never bring her to film. I would fit Huntress in her role. Her story is interesting.
Phinehas - 9/1/2009, 7:41 PM
Jolie would make a fine Catwoman, and I mean FINE. But imagine her as Poison Ivy! That would be perfect :)

Mila Kunis for Huntress :)
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/1/2009, 7:42 PM
Tyler, don't get wrong with Jolie. I think she's very beautiful. But I think she falls under Clooney's ilk. I don't think they appreciate nor really understand comic book stories. I think she'd go for a campy over-acting prose style.

She's not right.
Phinehas - 9/1/2009, 7:45 PM
Phin: Jordan Brewster for Huntress? Is that who you mean? I always thought of Huntress as raven haired, mature looking with a chip on her shoulder. Someone like Shannon Doherty...but younger than what shannon is now! (hehee)

Is that who you meant? ooohh.. definitely not Mila Kunis for Huntress... too young looking... imho... =)
KeepItReal - 9/1/2009, 7:45 PM
i dont care about age, BECKINSALE should play CATWOMAN
dellamorte1872 - 9/1/2009, 7:45 PM
@lee i think youre right i will write an article about my experience i have set pics from a lot of stuff that the photographer on crew was doing : ]] ill post some up. Im to lazy to do it right now but ill grab a pic or two and post it on this article
Set2Fallfirst - 9/1/2009, 7:50 PM
Huntress is young...
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/1/2009, 7:51 PM
Yeah, Jordan Brewster!

Phinehas - 9/1/2009, 7:52 PM
if you are going with Huntress then no for Jordana Brewster. Imho... need someone else for Huntress. Let me go pick up my kid from a party and I'll be right back =) Im going to be thinking about it now on the way...

ooooh but that picture you just put up is nice... hmmm... I know there is someone I am thinking of... let get back to you... =)

Huntress is young?... really? I thought she was like mid to late 20's.... hmmm... I'll be right back!
KeepItReal - 9/1/2009, 7:55 PM
Mid to late 20's is fairly young. Plus, Mila's 26.

InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/1/2009, 7:58 PM
I think her casting will be akin to that of Wonder Woman's. A Latina or Italiana girl would be ideal. She would be a tough cast, but not as controversial!

LOL
Phinehas - 9/1/2009, 8:00 PM
@Answer: Yeah, same here...
TheCritic17 - 9/1/2009, 8:00 PM
WOW. Awesome choices LEEE! I grew up on animates series and I thought Beyond was a good follow in its footsteps. I was more of a fan when the old villians reemerged, like Freeze or the Joker movie. That kickd ass!
antz1104 - 9/1/2009, 8:07 PM
I'm not a fan of Milo Ventimiglia, but I would kill to see Mark Hamill play the Joker in a live-action gig.
Montross - 9/1/2009, 8:09 PM
Shannyn Sossoman was in a Knight's Tale as the love interest.

Phinehas - 9/1/2009, 8:12 PM
How about NO BATGIRL at all? NO ROBIN, NO BATBOY, NO BATTEEN, NO BATFARKFACE either. These splinter characters are all fukkin stupid! And BTW, NO FARKIN STUPID SHE-HULK, SPIDER-GIRL OR SPIDERWOMAN EITHER! And if I ever read an article that they're making a movie about SUPER GIRL, SUPER BOY, OR SUPER-FARKIN-DOG, I will personally kick Stan Lee's wrinkled, sun-baked super-ASS!

I know he doesn't have anything to do with this, but it'd be a good headline grabber.

btw, doesn't anyone ever portray Cat-woman as anything more than a stripper with cat ears strapped to her head? I understand she's supposed to be a sexy character, but didn't she used to be about MORE than just sex?

she looks like she's just as likely to bang some dude behind the Wal-Mart as she is to rob it.
ReddHotPoker - 9/1/2009, 8:50 PM
Oh! I just thought of another old guy that can play an old Bruce Wayne. It may not be recieved well, but if you think about it he kind of did the ol' curmudgeon bit quite well in his last film.

Phinehas - 9/1/2009, 8:51 PM
Who is it? I can't see the picture.
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/1/2009, 9:02 PM
I grew up watching this and the Batman Animated Series. I can't wait for the mini-series, should be great.

@LEEE777 Your cast was great!!! Especially Mark Hammil and Brittany Murphy.
soccerjoshc - 9/1/2009, 9:07 PM
Ughhh... Its Harrison Ford. I think you can click on it and it'll bring you to Photobucket's site to view it there. It was on when I first posted it.

Stupid stupid stupid computer!
Phinehas - 9/1/2009, 9:08 PM
Oh, Ford is another great pick as well. I'm sticking with Kevin Conroy though hehe :)
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/1/2009, 9:09 PM
I agree with Phinehas, I've always seen Old Bruce/Batman as Clint Eastwood.
TheUnknown - 9/1/2009, 9:21 PM
What about Frank Langella for older Bruce Wayne if he could survive playing tricky dick i think he could play anyone. and Shawn Ennis for Terry.
luecypher - 9/1/2009, 9:49 PM
seriously this should be made into a movie and Milo Ventimiglia should definitely play Batman, only they shouldnt do it around high school time make him in his early twenties working for Wayne Tech and then he stumbles upon Bruce Wayne somehow
LaffaTaffa - 9/1/2009, 10:06 PM
for those who dont know since Lee didnt fill in the ending of the series. it didnt stop at the series finally of Batman Beyond. There were crossover episodes into Justice League Unlimited and we find out that Bruce Wayne is in fact the father of Terry McGinnis.
LaffaTaffa - 9/1/2009, 10:13 PM
why rune the already great beginning laffa? It was perfect as is, it would be akin to saying superman wasn't an alien at all he's really just a guy with amazing technology.
thwhtGuardian - 9/1/2009, 10:15 PM
Wont happen. Not planned to happen. No script has been written no actors have been chosen no network has picked it up. It's not going to happen. Buy the dvd set if your interested in watching batman beyond.
Gaurdian88 - 9/1/2009, 10:17 PM
I can't wait for the mini-series.
Good casting except I have to agree with some people that Clint Eastwood would make a great Old Bruce Wayne...I kind of pictured him in the role if they ever decided to make a live-action Batman Beyond movie.
Clint actually looks like Old Bruce Wayne fromthe cartoon.

TonyDark - 9/1/2009, 10:37 PM
@ Laffa Taffa Thanks for spoiling! In bold no less. Nice. Dumbledore dies, Bruce Willis is really a ghost and the Titanic sinks at the end.

Barbara Gordon/Batgirl has to be a redhead.
LexLuthor - 9/1/2009, 10:43 PM
I agree completely with your selections. Especially Brittany Murphy for Harley Quinn. I loved Batman:TAS and Batman Beyond. Now i will have a reason to have cable again.
MiniDarknight - 9/2/2009, 12:42 AM
Glad this series is coming back; it was pretty good while it lasted.

@LEEE

That's a damn good cast for the live action version. I would also like to see this movie get made.

Macksimus - 9/2/2009, 12:48 AM
You people are awesome. There is so much awesome casting in this thread I cannot even comment coherantly. Excuse me while my head explodes from this awesomeness. You guys always remind me that the internet ISN'T totally filled with morons.

I mean this. I love this freak community.

Anyways this is fantastic news! I loved that series. I was really hoping that SOMEONE would bring it back. Nice to hear that they will.

IF they ever made a live action version of this I would love to see Milo as McGinnis, Keaton as Wayne Again and any combination present in this thread. So much awesome. One of my favorite properties getting a second chance is always welcome. Carla Gugino for cats is awesome. I also like Brittany Murphy, Mark Hamil and Jordana Brewster.

Wow.
Pariah - 9/2/2009, 2:43 AM
Loved Batman Beyond.

theFACE - 9/2/2009, 3:06 AM
TheFACE @ Lol! ; )

PARIAH @ Very cool dude, glad ya really enjoyed it!!! Fingers crossed!

MACK @ Yeah it would be sweet if it ever got made, with TDK success, a BLADE RUNNER futuristic BATS would do extremely well, JOE PUBLIC would not get confused an would see it as its own entity! ; )

Laffa @ Cheers man glad you liked it, an kudos i didn't no that last bit!

MiniDarknight @ Very cool! Me too lol.

Guardian @ The castings abit of fun lol, but yeah ppl ive got a box set, their worth buying!

Soccarjosh @ Cheers dude, your always there for me buddy, kudos! ; )

ANTZ @ Very cool idea, luv it dude!!!

Montross @ Cool!

TYLER @ Its funny, i thought her as HUNTRESS too a while back, thats why i was gonna use her as LADY HAWKEYE which is a clone basically of HUNTRESS in the AVENGERS cast lol! Nice!

KEEP @ KUDOS!

PHINEHAS @ CLINT EASTWOOD is no longer acting man, read above! He's retired from acting! ; D

Like i said he would've been a excellent choice for MILLERS DARK KNIGHT RETURNS too!!!

Photobucket

I like your HUNTRESS pic though, cool!
LEEE777 - 9/2/2009, 3:55 AM
I used to dream about this becomming a movie, hell I remember a time when Keanu Reeves was signed to star (lol). Well I hope this is one step closer to that dream comming true. BTW: Clint Eastwood for Bruce Wayne! ;)
comicdreamer - 9/2/2009, 4:06 AM
SET2FALL @ You really should dude, that would be an amazing article!!! ; )

Hey if you ever just talkin' the breeze with ED HARRIS sometime, ask him what he'd think about portraying MAGNETO in a X4 movie? Coz alot of guys like SHAMAN and TYLER an others would like to see him in the role! It'd be interesting if he had any thoughts on the subject!!!

Me i want CLIVE OWEN lol, but that's for the MAGNETO ORIGIN movie, but ED would make a very cool MAGS in another X-movie! TYLER/SHAMAN don't say i don't do nothing for ya lol! Oh yeah SHAMAN done a drawing too! ; )

SET2FALL @ Again, plz do do an article man, it'll be friggin' fantastic! CBM member with THE STARS! Deff make Awesome reading dude and congrats again!

LEEE777 - 9/2/2009, 4:10 AM
Comicdreamer @ You dreamed about it lol! ; D

Coolio but again CLINT is RETIRED dude!
LEEE777 - 9/2/2009, 4:13 AM

Um thats a pretty good cast, short as hell, but it would be great to have them.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yohon Kalic - 9/2/2009, 4:20 AM
YOHON @ Yeah i know lol, but you know what news is like, if id of done a long casting like normal someone would've beat me to da news lol! I was risking doing any casting the time it takes to get the pics an combine them an stuff, glad ya liked it dude!
Cool CARNAGE AVATAR! ; )
LEEE777 - 9/2/2009, 4:31 AM
The news is kick ass I have been waiting on this idea to be a live action film for a while now. Milo would be good but he sure as shit isn't 16. Maybe someone a bit younger? Not that I have any Ideas other than Zack Effron........ ha he's such a fag.
sirbonesalot - 9/2/2009, 4:46 AM
Cheers Um,,,,, Sirbonealot @ Lol! Effron deff is heh heh, as for MILO i know but its HOLLYWOOD anyway he could pass as 18 to early 20's an abit of make up lol. Yeah it sure would kick ass! Damn, cant wait for KICK ASS!
LEEE777 - 9/2/2009, 5:04 AM
Wow lee you did a great job, who els but keaton as old bruce, and mark dose a great joker and he hasn't done a live action role in years its perfect.
legder20 - 9/2/2009, 6:09 AM
legder20 @ Cheers man! Yeah it would be a nice touch wouldn't it! ; )
Lets just hope they make a BATMAN BEYOND dude! Its BEYOND me lol, why they havn't or even a live tv show? After all we've got MATRIX Smallville now lol! ; D
A mix of BLADE RUNNER & BATMAN would be perfect movie!
Right off 4 abit,
Shut eye lol, i'll leave you with these two lovely ladies!
; )
LEEE777 - 9/2/2009, 6:26 AM
LEEE- GREAT article man!!! Although i wasn't a "big" fan of the show, i'd love a live action film!!! And you're casting is PERFECT!!! Keaton should definitely be the older Bruce, i just don't see Conroy as a screne actor and plus i've always enjoyed Keaton's voice to Conroy's. But go for Hamil as Joker!!! THAT's a must :))
Shaman - 9/2/2009, 6:56 AM
batman beyond was freaking awesome! awesome casting picks!
droopy1317 - 9/2/2009, 7:13 AM
I loved the hell out of Batman Beyond when i was younger, its still good, I wish they kept going with it...a live action movie would be great good casting Lee
Ryden - 9/2/2009, 7:16 AM
Well! Finally! Some good news! I loved Batman Beyond, and as long as the same creators are behind this, I'm all for reviving it. The Batman Beyond universe was an interesting possible future for DC. I loved the crossover that show did with Static Shock. Greatness!
One question: is this a comic series or an animated series of shows or movies?
comicb00kguy - 9/2/2009, 7:24 AM
!!!!BAD NEWS!!!!
I hate to break it to all the excited beyond fans, but this is not going to be a new animated mini-series. It is going to be a six-issue comic series early in 2010. Beleive me, no one is more bummed about this than me, but at least they are starting to think about fan intrest in Batman Beyond. So all we can do is be loud as hell, and keep our opinions coming. Maybe some big wig at DC or WB will come to thier senses and realize what a profitable and down right good series this was and still is. Here's hope! Good Casting though...Conroy is still my pick for old Bruce though, one last tribute before he "hangs up his cowl". Cheers!
MATXIII - 9/2/2009, 7:26 AM
@LEEE
BRILLIANT casting!!!
ElBicho - 9/2/2009, 8:28 AM
@MATXIII, That is bloody awful news!!!! I was really looking forward to a new animated show!!! BAWS! Now im all unhappy!! Just before I go on holiday tomorrow!!!
TheAnswer - 9/2/2009, 8:36 AM
allright!!! love terry
Denn1s - 9/2/2009, 9:05 AM
@The Answer...I know, it sucks. Hopefully I am wrong on this one, but from everything that I have checked out, it seems to be true. Like I said maybe if we all yell loud enough they will hear us. Cheers.
MATXIII - 9/2/2009, 9:26 AM
MATXIII @ Oopsss my bad if its friggin' true! Movie site was abit VAGUE! Still ya never know WB might take a lil notice with the response here for any format for BATMAN BEYOND! (Movie, Live tv series, etc). ; )
YELL LOUD is right dude!!!
MATXIII @ Luv ya BAT BEYOND AVATAR by the way!
ElBicho @ Thanx dude, high five!!!
LEEE777 - 9/2/2009, 10:42 AM
SHAMAN @ Droopy @ RYDEN @ Thanx guys!!! Glad you liked it! ; )
An @ SHAMAN @ Hell yeah!
LEEE777 - 9/2/2009, 10:48 AM
MiniDarknight-Why did you steal my avatar? Everyone on here knows that image as MatchesMalone (me). You might want to change it so people don't get confused.
MatchesMalone - 9/2/2009, 10:54 AM
@ LEEE
i read the article on newsarama where didio said this, i think he means a miniseries, as in a comic miniseries. i don't think its a show, but a comic. i could be wrong though. as of now, terry has only made like 2 appearances in DC comics continuity, and they have been very brief. the fans have complained that they want more of him, so they are giving his own comic miniseries, then judging by how that goes, he may get an ongoing series.
CorndogBurglar - 9/2/2009, 11:31 AM
cool and catwoman and harley are hot .... I wish i was a comic book character ;]
AvengingAngel1022 - 9/2/2009, 11:34 AM
@ matx
sorry man, lol, didn't read all the posts. but your right, its a comic, not a show
CorndogBurglar - 9/2/2009, 11:35 AM
@ LEE777 nice pics your making me droll on my keyboard just looking at your post of those chicks nice very nice .anyway great article and cast
____________________________________________________________________
i do hope one day we do get a live action batman beyond but i doubt we will be seeing one anytime soon tony out.
DarthKyrat1 - 9/2/2009, 12:07 PM
CORN @ Darn, where i got the info, they was very vague, still atleast BEYOND is coming back somehow an yeah we SHOUT LOUD enough maybe a BIG WB movie dude, an thanx!
Avenging @ Lol!
DarkKyrat1 @ Thanks man! Yeah lets hope we see a BEYOND movie!! An stop drooling all over your computer heh heh!
; D
LEEE777 - 9/2/2009, 12:53 PM
@LexLuther,
u shut your mouth with sarchasm. i didnt ruin everything. most people on here watched JLU and the episodes were played more than once on CN so dont give me the debby downer syndrome. I was filling in the missing parts. Lee did an excellent job on the article
LaffaTaffa - 9/2/2009, 1:07 PM
@leee777 even tho this is going to kill me to say this you done a fab job hun then again you always do ;)
lc - 9/2/2009, 1:43 PM
kool this is my favorite batman
flames809 - 9/2/2009, 1:50 PM
@ LEEE: LOL!
Hey. Money talks. I saw him in an interview and he said it himself. He basically said if the conditions were right he'd do a film from time to time. But not one every year. Though he probably wouldn't jump on a genre like this, I admit.
Point is, he's the best casting choice.
Phinehas - 9/2/2009, 5:35 PM
Nice, I really liked this series so it will be really great to see it back as long as they get Will Friedle back to voice Terry and Kevin Conroy to voice Bruce Wayne, I will be happy
dancingmonkey08 - 9/2/2009, 6:00 PM
someone should have Brent Sprecher make a poll to find out who should play Terry McGinnis, i think the poll would be unanimus b/c Milo would be an excellent choice
LaffaTaffa - 9/2/2009, 11:12 PM
now this might seem crazy, but Anna Ferris would make a fun harley quinn....I could just picture her saying mistah J! and being all psycho, yet cute :)
xxberzerkerxx - 9/2/2009, 11:53 PM
LAFFA @ Good man! ; )
PHINES @ My arse he is, he barely can pick up a gun nowadays by the time they actually to a BEYOND movie, he wont be acting by then, thats for sure lol.
I would like him too though!
Berzerker! Cool!
Lc @ Mwahhhhhhh x (And thanx for the thumbs down lol)
LEEE777 - 9/3/2009, 9:28 AM
@ LEEE777
Your casting is top notch. i love the cartoon and i'm ready to see this awesome show come to life.
Thatman12 - 9/3/2009, 10:12 AM
Nice casting LEEE, I always loved this show, it was really good, even though the time line was kinda messed up, Barbra being comish and not paralyzed was a big difference from the comics time line. and with events now there is a really big difference in Bruce being dead, but this show was made waaaaay before that happened.
Osiris - 9/3/2009, 1:37 PM
Thatman12 @ Me too bud, me too! Hopefully sometime soon! An thanx! ; )
0siris @ Cheers dude! Yeah the time line was messd up abit, but i saw it as an alternate time line anyway, futures never written in stone, thanx for your comment man, glad ya liked it!!!
LEEE777 - 9/3/2009, 2:43 PM
Great picks!
NightAvenger4 - 9/11/2009, 7:38 AM
AWESOME!! Batman Beyond was great! It would be killer to have a live action film and the casting is spot on!!
ATOMbomb - 9/12/2009, 3:58 PM
I do believe that Michael Keaton and Mark Hamill are the best bet for a good fan loving Batman Beyond. For Terry I believe since he is a bit of a smart ass I would have to pick none other than Justin Long. Keaton has a comedy background which he doesnt have to be funny but would play well off of a comic actor like Justin.
rooklee - 10/9/2009, 2:02 PM
OMG justin long will not make a good batman. EVER.
