Man of Steel May Film in Yorkville, Illinois

A further potential filming location now includes Yorkville as representatives from the film have picked up a permit from the city’s officials.

Yorkville’s Mayor Gary Golinski confirmed the application request when asked by Yorkville Patch. He was unsure if the production would ultimately film in Yorkville, but he did speculate toward Chapel on the Green (a church built in 1855). In an earlier report, a supposed production schedule for the film listed a funeral. Could filming at Chapel on the Green give some affirmation to this?

Meanwhile, set-construction continues rapidly in Plano. The city’s Mayor, Bob Hausler comments via Yorkville Patch:

It actually changes every day. They’re doing a fast job of constructing their buildings for their sets.

We really welcome anyone who would want to come to our Main Street, walk around and go to our businesses.

Chicago will also serve as a filming location for the Superman reboot.

Filming on “Autumn Frost” commences in August. Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill , Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Russel Crowe, Antje Traue and Michael Shannon is slated for a December 2012 release.

@grandizer-for those of us geeks that want to go there and possibly get a chance to see the stars and become part of the cinematic experience.

I lived in Yorkville pretty much my entire life until two years ago, so this is very cool news. I'll have to tell my family, who still lives there, to see if they can get any pictures of anything, if filming does indeed happen over there.

@starfighter

Dude, I agree completely! I always felt that he needed both parents in his life to help him become Superman. Hopefully the Kents won't be pushing 1,000.

Thats a good choice to film the location of Smallville where Clark Kent was raised by his Foster Parents ?
