Recently Buzzfeed spoke with the designer and asked him about his next project. Here's what he had to say:

Buzzfeed: So will you be switching up and maybe picking a period drama for your next film [after Star Trek]? What’s coming up next?

Michael Kaplan: Well, I’ve just learned I’ll be working on the new Star Wars movie, again with J.J. Everything just got formalized [last week], I haven’t even had the chance to talk to anyone about it all other than to be told ‘welcome aboard.’ It’s a little too soon to know exactly what’s in store but I’m excited, absolutely, to get to work on another prestigious sci-fi series.”

Michael Kaplan is known for his work on I Am Legend, Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness, Flashdance, Seven, The Game, Panic Room, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, and Miami Vice.

...I would have preferred the costume designers from the prequels... they already had a vision of the universe but okay. He is a good costume designer and will lead a good team

HELL NO!!! Haven`t we seen too much of that crap already?? Superman returns little shield symbols? The little teeny starfleet symbols in the pattern? The GI Joe camo-logo-flage?

Do you really want to see more of that???

The fact that Jar Jar Abrams already butchered Trek is making me apprehensive about Ep VII as it is.
