Guardians of the Galaxy won't hit theaters until August, but all the actors have been continuously talking about this movie. We haven't seen a trailer yet, so we didn't get to see the guardians in action, but we have seen some pretty great photos so far. That includes the set photos from back when they were filming. That also gave us our first look at a character many fans have been dying to see in this movie. The character played by The Walking Dead actor Michael Rooker, Yondu. In an interview with Unrendered Podcast (via ComicBook), Michael Rooker talked about his character's costume in the movie, what us fans can expect to see from the movie, and once again praises the director James Gunn. On the costume he will be wearing as his character Yondu and how it differs from the costume he wears in the comics, he says, “As you can see from some of the photos out there, I’m not in a loincloth. I don’t have a major, major fin thing that goes down my back. We haven’t visually gone with the way that Yondu was in the comics.” As many fans may know, Yondu was one of the original members of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Rooker said that we can all expect “Lovely, beautiful colors” from the movie. He says, “What do you expect? It is a superhero movie. And I hope that you see it, and you’re going to be going ‘I’m going to see this again.’ That’s what I hope.”

As some may know, Michael Rooker has worked with Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn in the past. Gunn previously directed the actor in "Slither" and "Super." He clearly really loves Gunn, and he has praised him in the past as well. On re-teaming with the director, he said “It was a beautiful shoot. James Gunn was an awesome, awesome director to work with again. I’ve worked with him before in the past, and it was great to get to do it again.” Rooker was then asked what attracts him to James Gunn as an artist. He had this to say: “It’s what attracts him to me, not what attracts me to him. You’ve got the wrong question there. [Laughing] We get along well. We’ve been good friends since our first film.” While continuing to praise Gunn, Rooker added, “He allows me to do my thing, and he has great comments. Very good director…when you’re lost in the woods, he can direct you.” Are you looking forward to Rooker's performance as Yondu, and when do you expect a first trailer? Sound off below, and remember that Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters August 1st!

“Guardians of the Galaxy,” the next epic adventure from Marvel Studios, is directed by James Gunn from his screenplay, with a story by Nicole Perlman and Gunn, and the film will introduce audiences to a whole new side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Was hoping this would get a trailer released earlier than the 'typical' schedule Marvel has done in the past (see ezio's comment above) because this movie isn't a sequel and is really an unknown to most the public, so couple extra months marketing this baby could be the way to go...

This is my second time reading about the beautiful colors for this movie. Getting an "Avatar" vibe which isn't a bad thing as far as the art production.

Exactly SC, if any movie could get away with 'over-the-top' comic book look and feel, it would be GotG...After seeing the production pics of Yondu, was really hoping they'd cgi the big, red fin on, hope they do some type of fin at least...
LordHuck
LordHuck - 1/20/2014, 4:19 PM
They can still do a fin like Dr. Zoidberg has a fin.

i can understand gunn wanting the vfx of the movie to be on par with what we will see in the film, but i hope he relases a trailer next month cause i cant wait for it,i realllllllllllllly hope this movie is good, this sounds so cool and fresh and different, i am been liking what im hearing andseeing, im fine with the collectors look,i like how comic booky this is,it was a different tone then what people had experience before ,i think have a whole movie to have that tone will definitely benefit it,hopefully the first trailer rocks, for me personally,if done well, this could be my favorite superhero film in years

i do hope that rocket has the cockney accent but if not ,im fine with it,atleast they didnt ignore it cause i know bradley cooper said that he and james gunn debated if they wanted to do a cockney accent or anew york type accent, we will see
ezio619
ezio619 - 1/20/2014, 4:39 PM
i really hope audiences atleast give it a chance, i can definitely understand the wtf a raccoon and a tree reaction that this will most likely get,but frankly star wars was weird too, a gree lettle man, a big furry dude, what people loved about was the characters and the adventure and rooting for the underdogs, the unlikely heroes and guardians is all about that so fingers crossed....
ezio619
ezio619 - 1/20/2014, 4:40 PM
i just want a good space adventure film, not something deep but has heart and great characters ,thats all i want for this one
