James Marsden Briefly Discusses The Return Of Cyclops In X-MEN Sequel
Even though he won't be appearing in Days of Future Past, fan-favorite X-Man Cyclops is probably the character fans most want to see in a sequel. James Marsden, who plays the character in the original X-Men trilogy, talked a little bit about potentially returning to the franchise.
Cyclops has always been a popular X-Man, and many fans have been wanting to see his return for years now, whether it be James Marsden returning for the role or a new actor being cast as a younger version. Marsden, who played the character in Bryan Singer's X-Men and X2: X-Men United and again briefly in Brett Ratner's X-Men: The Last Stand, talked a bit about possibly returning to the franchise. Vaguely, he says "I’ve always been very proud of my role and it’s out of my hands. It’s nice to see Bryan [Singer] go back in and turn the boat a little bit. I’m happy for those that made it back. I’d like to. I get excited watching the trailers because I’m excited for the continuance of the X-Men world. I’m a fan of X-Men and I know it’ll be a kick ass movie." Marsden also was asked what it's like from his perspective to see Marvel movies being made every few months despite the very idea of making a comic book movie was a risk back when he did X-Men. "I loved being a part of those movies. It was a great group of people. It was rare to get fans excited for a comic book movie, and do well at the box office with films that critics loved, too. I mean nobody doesn’t like them." If Cyclops is brought back for either 2016's X-Men Apocalypse or for some other X-Men sequel, would you prefer FOX bringing back James Marsden for a role or would you prefer they cast someone new?
