COMICS: Power Girl’s New Costume Gets Tweaked Yet Again

George Perez has drawn a new version of Power Girl's New 52 Costume. Is it any better? Does it have a boob window? Find out after the jump.

In early February, DC Comics released a new look for Power Girl, which was met with open arms and enthusiastic accolades by everyone in the comic book community. We jest, as the comments on the original article reveal pretty much everyone hated it, even though the costume did have a fan or two.
Now, George Perez has posted on his Facebook page some artwork for a World’s Finest design that he did for Pittsburgh Comicon t-shirts. The artwork shows Power Girl in a brand new version of her new costume.

In the comments on his Facebook page, George Perez notes that the new look for Power Girl is not his design, but he did do some tweaking to it. Apparently, this new design of the new costume looks like it will replace the design that appeared on the World’s Finest #1 cover, as Perez posted, “Unfortunately DC didn’t make a final decision on the costume until after the solicitation art (the cover for the first issue) had to be sent to the printers.”

So far, the new version of the new Power Girl costume is being greeted with mostly positive feedback on Perez’s Facebook page. Most seem to think it is an improvement over the look that appeared on the World’s Finest #1 cover.

World’s Finest is a new ongoing series, which will feature Power Girl and Huntress of Earth 2. It will written by Paul Levitz with art by George Perez and Kevin Maguire. World’s Finest #1 is scheduled to arrive in comic book stores on May 2, 2012.

breast reduction + lack of flesh on show = dc failing.

Since when have comics relied on boobs to be a success? Everyone that thinks boobs + flesh makes a good comic = FAIL

Marvel aren't much better, look what they did to Ms. Marvel. Neither company are failing.

Looking at Perez's picture made me think that Apollo (from the Authority) finally had that sex-change operation he was wanting. The Huntress looks good and I like that design but PG looks like whomever designed it just said "[frick] it" and went for something generic.

It looks a lot better. I defended and for the change. People who are angry and complain about the lack of a boob window clearly have no interest in the characters personality. Power Girl is an interesting female super hero. She sadly is getting overshadowed by her breasts. Showing skin in mainstream comics doesn't ruin a good book, sometimes its how they are drawn and stylized that can help.

@comic critic Yes I agree with you and it's a shame because PowerGirl is a good character however I must admit that last costume does not clik withnme it looks crappy I feel they should keep the orignal costume look . perhahps tweek it a little like a smaller window on the front.

It's alright, liked the first redesign better. But I guess it's a lot better than the old costume, IMO. Doesn't look as ridiculous. But what ever.

I don't hate the new costume because of the lack of a "boob window". I hate the costume because it looks like a rejected prop from a bad 70s sci-fi pilot. The Atom in that shitastic Justice League TV pilot had a better costume. Every time I look at her, I keep expecting to hear the announcer bellow "BUCK ROGERS IN THE 25TH CENTURY!!!!"

@Tea - genius.
I like it. But I like boobs a bit more.
This is an obvious response to the bad reaction to the way characters such as Starfire and Catwoman were percieved to be portrayed in The New 52. It is a side-effect of the widespread attention that these comics have received.
Although they seem to have forgotten that, in the glimpse that we have already had of Earth 2, in 52#52, there is a Huntress and a boy-Robin, not a female Robin. I hope this gets explained, because they have already left us scratching our heads over the discrepancies of Earth 16 being simultaneously the Young Justice continuity and the world where Chris Kent is the only Superman.

This is a very untimely piece of news too. Did you know it is National Cleavage Day today, in the UK?
No, really. Look it up.

just watch sale's drop.

sex sells, how many people brought the comic for just the characters personality & riverting storylines.

i suppose having huge fun bags had nothing to do with it.

Wow, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I like the first redesign better.

Do these people even know who Power Girl is? That doesn't fit the character at all.

There will always be rabid-dog men who need TNA to be interested in anything. You sex-crazed idiots denigrate our gender and I am thoroughly disgusted by you. Pardon me for trying to see females and female characters as people instead of dancing breasts with short-skirts. Just do us all a favor and get your brains out of your pants. Less gratuitous costumes in comics would be a good thing. People might even take the medium seriously if the characters didn't look so ridiculous.

I like this redesign a lot better than the 1st redesign, but that's honestly not saying very much.

But man, what the hell is up with that artwork? If I was Perez, I would be ashamed to admit I drew that shit. Like loki668 said, it looks like some bullshit from some lame-ass failed 70's sci-fi show.

I'd like to see what the new costume design would look like if someone tried to draw Power Girl like she was, you know, in the year 2012.

I wouldn't mind if the designs were actually good! But they suck... Isn't she from the house of El too? Why don't ever try to incoperate that? Makes me want to come up with one of my own!

there was an article a long way back about why her and wonderwoman's original costumes don't work so she does need a new look but if you lose the sexy... you lose the male fans!

first redesign was the best costume so far. this new one sucks. again scratching my head at how a big company can put out a design that looks like something a child would come up with

Why can't they look at what some of the Fans have created and buy a design of one of them. There are some amazing Power girl designs out there or Pay a professional to design one It's a shame Dave Cockrum isn't around . He would kick ass!! How a major comic company after years of being in the business can get it so wrong.
