20th Century Fox releases the official description of X-Men: First Class via Comics Continuum:

"X-Men First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto's Brotherhood and Professor X's X-Men."

LEEE777 - Release date is June 3 2011 for the X-Men adaptation.

armaggedon? i will watch it only because of vaughn. i like the concept of the origins of x and magneto, but apart from that it is gonna suck as an adaptation. it will probably be a good movie but a shitty adaptation. i am not usually a hater (i love spiderman 3, xmen 3, origins and returns) but this movie seems bad...

Armageddon as in biblical, as in the end of the world guys. Its not a character. My God.

Ror- Well... that's what i thought too... but after re-reading their wording, i can't blame anyone for having misunderstood that. Fox could have made their research and realise that they could have chosen better words like "the end of the world" instead of Armageddon or even worse, Apocalypse LMAO But then again... they ARE Fox and don't seem to care for the source much.

@ daredevil89 origins was not such a shitty adaptation, nor was X3 except for the phoenix. even the first two x-men films, while good films, were loooooooosely based on the comics, but first class is taking the word ''bad adaptation'' to a whole different level. their first class is not actually the first class. why not just make the actual first class and not put random mutants in it? that is what bothers me. i don't mind some liberties taken, and that is why i like the aforementioned movies, but this is bad, man...i hope the film proves me wrong though, because i love the x-men.

Sounds interesting. Completely pointless and most likely shit (it's Fox after all) but interesting nonetheless. If by interesting, you mean: YAWN. Great find LEE. :D

On paper, it doesn't sound so bad. That doesn't mean it won't be so bad, though.

Cynical.

I have no doubt that I will watch it and most likely will like it because of the story between professor x and magneto. However fox sucks so hard for not staying true to the source material. In a perfect marvel movie world we should see Scott and Bobby near the same age being rivals not teacher and student. We should see rogue looking so sexy that you'd be willing to spend the night in the hospital just to touch her. But alas the marvel world isn't perfect (yet) and we as comic fans must take the crap they give us. Bright side 2011 cap, Thor, green lantern!!! Best comic year since batman, iron man

Shaman, ok so he's an obscure character that a good portion of comic fans probably don'r even know. I wouldn't really expect Fox to either. If they had of said "Apocalypse" that would have been one thing, but .."To stop the end of the world" has a bit of a childish sound to it when you could just use a word that describes that! I dunno, regardless it was pretty obvious to me what they meant but I guess some hardcore Armageddon fans might have got their hopes up:)

There is some new info here by the way, we didn't know about the world ending threat or the global events.

People keep complaining that its not the first class, me included, how about they just change the name? It would never be the first class anyway, the can't have Iceman or Angel in their first class without fricking with their continuity even more.

Why not just X-Men Origins? or something better than that because I can't think of anything right now

In the summer of Thor, Cap, & Lantern....I don't think First Class is going to do all that well, BUT I will give it a chance until I see it of course.

Cheers @ guys, cool! ; )

Yeah, if somehow Fox makes us believe I'll eat my words... damn, APOCAYLPSE would be the sweetest!

But I wont hold my breath there lol.

Agree with you @ FROGMAN... I too want the original X-Men!

Maybe if we get time travel changing events like Star Trek etc haha, ya never know!?? ; D

IF they changed the name to X-MEN: ARMAGEDDON!

Now that would sound more cool! ; )

I thought the description was pretty straight forward. And how does anyone know that this movie is going to suck? How?

Deadpool, you waited all the way to the first description from Fox to decide to boycott this, good thinking holding out for SOOOOO long for something as concrete as a back of movie case film description, everyone knows you can tell if a movie is going to be good by reading the back.

Shaman, that's pretty cool about Briere! He had an awesome game last night in Toronto. So you're from the Montreal area eh, maybe that is where our eternal struggle comes from as I'm from the Toronto area, haha.

Armageddon = THE CUBAN MISSILE CRISIS. In 1962 The world almost came to an end when Russia placed nuclear missiles in communist Cuba pointed at the US. President Kennedy had to decide weather to invade Cuba and start a war with Russia. That Island photo is the coast of Cuba.

It was the biggest event of 1962. But I realize it is before most of yours time.

Ryguy88- Awesome to hear that Briere is kickin' ass, whether his team wins or not. I don't follow hockey at all so i really don't know how his team is doing but your fellow fan the other day still said they were one of the best teams in the league so i'm happy to hear that :)

Actually location wise, i'm a lot closer to the Ottawa Sens. I've spent my entire life living in the Outaouais region(Gatineau/Hull) which is literally 5 minutes away from Ottawa. That's where Briere and his sister went to high school, his sister was in the same year as me, her locker being right next to mine a few times since my last name is very similar to theirs. I think she might be slightly younger than i am... like a few months or so.

Hahahaha!!! "Our eternal struggle" yeah, if i did follow hockey, i'd probably pic the team that i did follow a tad more closely as a kid, which was definitely the Habs LOL But on account of Briere being with Philly, i might have jumped ship! Those idiot Habs go for cheap choices all the time and hope to god that they are good, instead of keeping the french canadian talent happy and have them play at home, like most of them naively hope as rookies.

And because of the administrators' actions/choices, it makes the team spirit and environment practically non existent, and then the fans put too much pressure on the very little amount of french canadian players they have. That actually makes great french canadian players such as Briere not even want to play for Montreal anymore! That team is run by monkeys i tell ya. And i'm not even a hockey fan! LMAO ;P

Tell you what though, i really hope that Quebec city gets their Nordics back! When they were alive, their feud with Montreal was orgazmic, it was also back then that i followed the game more closely. If that ever happens again, those will be good times ahead for plenty of hockey fans ;)

I'm not one of those people who hates Bryan Singer(although I do share the intense hatered for FOX), I loved The Usual Suspects, his first 2 X-Men films were great dispite having some major flaws to them(Sabertooth's charatization in the first film, Iceman being a teen, Sabertooth not being involved in the events of the 2nd film since it dealt with Weapon X) and while I'm not a Superman fan, Returns was an admerible film that is nowhere as bad a people say. The thing is he alwas, regardless of the end result, comes up with smart storie sust like Matthew Vaughn said so I think there is cause to beat least excited for this film espacially after the last two abominations. Plus this is suppose to be the first in a series so I'm guessing it's in the second film that we'll see Cyclops and the rest of the first class b/c this film is really the origins of Xavier and Magneto dispite the title (I guess they couldn't come up with a better title that would fit that discription).

maybe the haters are overreacting for no reason, maybe the random group of mutants that are in this new movie are not even called X-Men. Xavier & Magneto set up a prototype team that comes before the original X-Men. The comics do retcons of this type all the time, as long as it keeps continuity with the other X-Men movies, Im happy

And really, I would rather Fox continue to [frick] up their own X-Men franchise and leave the eventual reboot with the original X-Men to Marvel Studios. Too many reboots turn the audience off

LEEE's star trek time travel theory is cool too

SPIDEY don't, nor does SUPERMAN really! : P

Cool man, TREK it is haha, hey all Fox has to do is tweak it a bit with time travel, CABLE and more comic book versions and we've got awesome! ; D

i'm reserving judgement until the first preview. it's a new take, a period piece, first take on the hellfire club, and the director of Kick Ass. i'm shocked at how people are expecting this to be as bad as catwoman, when it'll probably only be as bad as Daredevil, ha!
