The series finale was last Thursday and the Christmas special is tomorrow on E4, but theres another Misfits Christmas present as the third season is a go!

The superhero drama series made at Clerkenwell Productions for Channel 4, creator/producer Howard Overman went online last night to announce that, yes, there is a 3rd series on the way (via Bleedingcool).

When talking about a third series, the producers said about an extended series (spin-off), with other writers involved joining Howard Overman to expand the Misfits universe, just like the E4 TV show Shameless show has.

LEEE777 - This is indeed very good news as I personally am a big fan of this franchise and if they go the way BBC's Dr Who has with their franchise, we could get some interesting new series spun from the Misfits.

Good, about time there was a good super hero series that didn't sell out after the first season, and better yet, it's BRITISH!

WAIT FOR IT! The Americans will remake this awesome show (and no doubt completely screw it up), and claim they had the idea first...just like threes company, all in the family sanford and son...etc...

no "smallville" has shit writing,acting & has done more to ruin the "superman universe" than help it.

"misfits" has got good writers & pretty good acting its based in the "superhero genre" & not on a particular comic franchise,just like "heroes" which i thought was pretty good overall as well.

also in "misfits" the heroes & villains actually use their powers for more than five minutes each week.

I'm glad to hear this Leee777. You would think that Season 3 of Misfits would be a sure thing but Channel Four didn't re-new Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, which was another great show. Cna't wait to see where they go with the show now that their community service is done.

It's a channel 4 tv series made in 2004. The show revolves around fictional horror author Garth Marenghi who made a show back in the 80s called Darkplace but it was so out there that the 'powers that be' refused to air it.
The whole thing is fiction and its sort of a piss take on bad 80s soap opera. You should give it a watch. They only made six episodes, which are about 25 minutes long. But its really excellent.
