Batman-Online is reporting that the rumors of former Batman Adam West having a cameo in Nolan's are indeed false. Instead, it appears that West may have been attending the rehearsals for the play, Batman Live (which were taking place not far from Nottingham, where TDKR has been filming).

Adam West cameo rumours turned out to be false (according to The 1966 Batman Message Board), however they may have been fueled by an actual crossing of wires...

Movie news site Movies Online reported that a local news site in the UK ‘This is Nottingham’ had multiple users saying they had spotted Adam West in the area back on June 17th.

Actually, rehersals for Batman Live (the World Arena Tour that starts touring the UK this month) has been taking place 2 miles from an English village called Gotham (but prounced "Goath-am").

Was Adam visiting the rehearsals for Batman Live? It would certainly explain the confusion and rumour fuelling!

It looks like West being around the set of TDKR was just a coincidence after all! But what do you think of the matter? Sound off your thoughts below.

Starring Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman, The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th, 2012!

Ha! All that bickering for what?? This is probably for the best though. Campy cameos wouldn't fit in, especially in a Nolan'verse Bat-flick.. IMO

Stan Lee's cameos are a little different though, it's almost like they're expected in Marvel movies..

thats too bad. @^...it doesnt have to be campy to have an adam west cameo. Could simply be an old friend of Luscious Fox.

@naterator I know what you're saying, I was being mildly sarcastic. It's just that Adam West can't help but come off as "campy" lol I'm sure the writing would be superb! I just think it's for the best that He's out.

I knew it was fake, like Nolan does cameos in his movies.

Well that sucks! It's strange that he's never been in any Batman cameos. It would have been cool to see him in this Batman franchise.

Remember when Hugh Jackman was spotted around the XFC set and everyone said that was just coincidence and he didn't actually film anything? Yeah, I remember that, too.

@ZangetzuBLK

WTF u talking about Nolan does cameos in his movies.

United States Senator Patrick Leahy a Batman fan who was an extra in Batman & Robin and also was a guest voice actor on Batman: The Animated Series made a cameo in The Dark Knight.

also Matt Skiba, lead singer of Chicago punk band Alkaline Trio made a small appearance in The Dark Knight.

He's probably fit in very well with the old guys on the board of directors at Wayne Enterprises.

Other musical cameos include:
Frank Sinatra popping out of a window in the '60s TV series.
En Vogue as the hookers that Dick Grayson sees as he is curb-crawling in the Batmobile, in Batman Forever.
Coolio as the banker for the bike-race in Batman & Robin.
The guy from the band James as Victor Zsasz, in Batman Begins.
And the Ministry of Sound as the club in The Dark Knight.
Oh and Henry Rollins in multiple voice roles, in the various animated versions.

Figured as much. Like I said before, it would have been breaking tradition had the featured Adam West (as old as he is) in a modern day Batfilm.

I'm not going to say 'I told you so' but I will say that there were reports similar to this for the first 2 films...Tom Welling was 'reported' to be playing Kent in Batman Begins and Michael Keaton was 'reported' to cameo in The Dark Knight and look how both those turned out...

No Adam West!?! That would have been a good cameo since this will be the last Nolan Batman movie.

Well, better hope they put Kevin Conroy in though.

Why does everyone assume that just because Adam West was Batman, that his Nottingham visit has something to do with Batman Live or TDKR? I mean yeah he did play Batman for a while, but you never know. He could be there for personal reasons of has some work there.

I love West but probably for the best. Nolan has created such a new and unique Batman I'm not sure if even a slight nod to the campy 60's would work.

My nephew thought Adam West was just the mayor on Family Guy. He had no idea that West is a real person, let alone that he once played Batman.
