Joining Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series in returning to Cartoon Network this month is ThunderCats - a reimagining of the classic 1980s cartoon show of the same name. The show aired its first 13 episodes last summer/fall, and now we have confirmation that the second season will begin this month. Instead of airing on Fridays like the first season, the following episodes are to show on Cartoon Network on Saturday mornings, beginning March 24th. Below are descriptions for both episodes, which contain some SPOILERS, so you may want to stop reading here (unless you've been following the show).

Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. (ET, PT)
An epic, all new reimagining of the classic 1980s animated series, ThunderCats tells the story of a hero’s journey to fulfill his ultimate destiny. On Third Earth, the kingdom of Thundera is being threatened by the evil sorcerer Mumm-Ra, and Lion-O, the young heir to the throne, embarks on a great quest to take his rightful place as king. The unlikely champion must work with his faithful comrades Tygra, Cheetara, Panthro, WilyKit, WilyKat, and his loyal pet, Snarf — who join him on his journey — to save their world from darkness.

Saturday, March 24: “New Alliances” – The Thundercats go on the offensive taking down Mumm-Ra's lizard army piece by piece. Lion-O appeals to the soldiers to turn against their overlord, but Mumm-Ra won't see his army crushed so easily. He tasks Slithe with recruiting two new and vicious Generals -- Addicus and Kaynar -- to retaliate against the cats. Meanwhile, the Robear Berbils make Panthro a new set of robotic arms and soop up the Thundertank.

Saturday, March 31: “The Trials of Lion-O Pt. 1” – Mumm-Ra's generals ambush and, while the other cats are captured, Lion-O falls to his death. Thanks to the Spirit Stone, he encounters Jaga in the Astral Plane and is given a second chance at life. If he is able to pass a series of trials that pit him against each of his teammates, he can win back his life and save the other cats. First up are Kit and Kat, followed by Cheetara. But the clock is ticking because Mumm-Ra has the Sword of Omens!

ThunderCats returns to Cartoon Network on March 24th at 9:30 AM.

SO glad its coming back! Was worried for a minute cause Green Lantern and Young Justice had been anounced but not Thundercats. I really hope this show gets a better chance than the Masters of the Universe reboot. That was also a good show and it got shafted.

I didn't like what happened in the last episode, because I felt sorry for Lion-o. If you look at it, practically everybody chooses Tygra over Lion-o, even their dad, King Claudus. The only one that did choose Lion-o was the Sword of Omens, and that thing doesn't even talk! Now that Cheetara and Tygra have gotten together, where's the love for Lion-o? You guys get what I'm saying?

Anything Thundercats always reminds me of the sad, strange story of the original writer/creator Stephen Perry.

Woot! I was wondering when we were going to hear news of a second season.

In my opinion, this is one of the best remade cartoons in recent memory.

I like the new cartoon. I think it's strange that they live on this planet in an advanced society and don't seem to have any knowledge of the numerous other civilizations that laid down roots nearby, but whatever. Still like it.

Also, it took forever to get some clarification on how Lion-O and Tigra were related (Tigra's adopted), but once again it doesn't break the show for me.
