star trek sucks period. The 2009 film was only ok. Star Wars is the shit.

That's what happens when you take forever to make sequels. The actors become bigger stars with bigger ego's. Quinto did an ok Spock, but not like Nimoy. I'm sure they can find another actor to do just as well if not better.

Signing up for a Star Trek film when you're not willing to play that character for, well, ages. That's just low.

So much for a reboot.

As long as J.J Abrams plans it out well, then sure, die. I'd rather someone who doesn't want to do the role to know not do it at all.

I think you are looking at things that don't exist. It sounded like he uses just a few roles that he feels that are not as exciting, and its fine and all. People DO lose interest in things, He still probley will do Spok for a few films. He's more known as Syler if anything. also what does him being Gay have to do with anything?

you know, guys like this [frick]ing baffle me...they get a 1 in 6 billion chance that is unquestionably fueled by the fans. and then immediately start bashing it & wanna seperate themselves from the role thats gonna pay his rent FOREVER.

im not saying he owes it to anyone to play spock forever, but the 2nd [frick]ing film hasnt even come out yet & he's ready to bolt. [frick] him. re-cast for the future. spock is not one of those irreplaceable roles.

Quinto is the product of internet fanboys lobbying. He only got the Spock role due to the Heroes TV show fans lobbying for him to get it.

Why in the holy mother of [frick] are people pointin out hes gay?

It's like going that straight Chris Evans is a good actor. No one says straight

So shut the [frick] up with this gay nonsense

I allways get sick to the stomach whem I hear an actor... speaking out, that he wants to do more shake-spear in the park..... star trek.... has been and is a classic, legend or whatever you want to call it , series/movie..... to be an actor in this kind of movie...and then whining about it....is an insult to everybody who appreciates this kind of movies.... if you want to do more serious acting.... than give us a spock, where we will forget the name of leonard nimoy.....than you will do something epic acting!!

He probably signed a contract for three movies, so he might be legally obligated to do a third.

The Lobbying got him noticed by Abrams & co. And put him at the top of the list. Then they saw he had this tv following & they figured what have we got to lose this dude has a ton of fans.

@MARVELPSYCHO79: Yeah, pretty tired of this happening. It's understandable but annoying. If you're that good of an actor then you don't have to worry about typecasting or only being known for that one big role you have in that one big popular series/franchise. Harrison Ford, Johnny Depp, SLJ and RDJ do it and manage to both be known as their own person and for the roles they play. If you're talented and can bring something to each role you play then it's not a problem.

In his defense though, it doesn't sound like he wants out after the nest one sounds more like he'll be careful of taking recurring character roles in the future. Pretty sure he'll continue playing Spock until this particular run ends and they reboot/recast.

[frick] Quinto, recast the role if needed. He's an asshole. He never should have signed on for a big franchise like this if he had zero intention of continuing.

Then again, this is also the fault of Abrams and crew for stalling this film for FOUR [frick]ING YEARS. Maybe had they not stalled the project this long, Quinto would be less likely to quit.

Of course he doesn't want to do this in multiple films. But the time between the previous Star Trek and this one.. I guess we'll be some years further when it comes to the third ;) I'm sure he won't die in this and that he will return in ST3. Just not more than that. And that should be fine I think, I think JJ could make a really good trilogy out of the first film. :D

2 films under his belt is hardly the same as playing a character for 3 series, 7 films (in 1 your character was actually killed off but then brought back in the next) and numerous guest spots on the spin off/sequel series...

Get over yourself man and just enjoy what you got and enjoy the work...

Meh. He was okay, I mean he was cool. But like Edward Norton, he's easily replaced. Besides, his Spock looked a little flamboyant with his big eyes, I don't know, maybe Nimoy is just too man to be replaced.

Get Channing Tatum or Nic Cage to play Spock in sequels.
