Ever since Walt Disney Pictures announced in October that they have acquired LucasFilm and will be making new Star Wars movies, speculation concerning Episode VII's director has been all over the web. Directors such as David Fincher, Jon Favreau, Matthew Vaughn, Brad Bird, J.J. Abrams and many others have all been connected to the project, with several (including Bird and Abrams) denying their involvement with the highly anticipated sequel. Now, speaking with ABC News Radio (via ComicBook.com), LucasFilm President and executive producer Kathleen Kennedy offers a rather brief update on the film. "I have no immediate update, but hopefully in January I’ll have something that I can say." It's quite possible that January will be when we'll finally have a director announcement. Additionally, she confirmed that pre-production will begin sometime in the Spring of 2013. While it was already announced that pre-production was beginning with the signing of screenwriter Michael Ardnt (Toy Story 3), ComicBook.com assume that set construction is the pre-production that will begin in the Spring. Star Wars: Episode VII is currently targeting a 2015 release.

I never thought I'd see an episode 7... Especially before a JLA flick. Hopefully they all come along nicely because with what they're doing with Marvel, Star Wars, Tron, and hopefully DC takes off... I'm just feeling spoiled and overjoyed.

@BluePallando- I'll be honest I don't understand everyone's dislike of Jar Jar... He was a essential part of the story... Not only did he provide the means for the two Naboo armies to join together and defeat the Trade Federation... But he also provided the means for Palpatine to create an army of The Republic... The fact he is a clown has it's moments but if anything I feel sorry for him and his niavity.

@BluePallando- Banes story is awesome
I love how in the beginning the Sith were legion and then he devised plan that just wiped them out.

if fincher helms this movie, it will be epic, wow is all i will say

it will be nothing short of being the greatest star wars film ever, i wish kasden was writing 7 and not arndt, i am not in the slightest bit convinced he will do well, i am hoping a guy like fincher will save us from any mistakes he will make in the screenplay

@BluePallando- I think what they should of done is given Jar Jar less screen time and have more of Maul.

I agree with your comment about Darth Bane, Finished re-reading Path Of Destruction yesterday... That trilogy is just amazing!!!

I remember being in school around the time of Attack Of The Clones and there being a rumour that Jar Jar and Boss Nass were to come out of the water and be shot dead by droid assassins lol Maybe your prefered version lol :)

@BluePallando- I thought that is what happens at the end of the third book, He tries transferring himself into Rain and she resurfaces signalling Bane's demise? I would go with your suggestion about Bane surviving that long though as I would want to see him immortal in some fashion.

Maul sadly WAS underused and was by far the most interesting sith other than Bane. I found it interesting when I found out he survived and tracked down Obi-Wan (Beheading Watto in the process lol). But I feel the same way about Qui-Gon Jinn...

@simplyJoshuaJames- At the end of the Battle Zannah defeated Bane but she showed trimmers in her hand that could have been a sign Bane used the transference successfully.

If they kill Jar-Jar I will be happy. And they should recast Luke and such.

@BluePallando- Well be know for a fact Palpatine didn't die at end of ROTJ so what if Bane has been ALL the siths... Full of plot holes but as a Bane fan would love to see the rules bent. Even a film about the Exar Kun story arch would be nice.

Hell... We should get with Stranger X and do the film lol
