Jaimie Alexander Offers Advice For Making WONDER WOMAN Work

Speaking with MTV Slashpage while promoting The Last Stand, actress Jaimie Alexander shares her thoughts on possibly playing Diana Prince/Wonder Woman on the big screen. While she previously expressed interest in playing the DC Comics super-heroine, due to the many failed attempts in bringing the character to life, she isn't interested in portraying Diana of Themiscyra anymore. "I used to be [interested], but then I've seen how many failed attempts there have been in making it. It's embarrassing for me as a woman, seeing what they did with that TV show." She also shares her thoughts on the depiction of female superheroes in general on film, specifically discussing NBC's failed Wonder Woman pilot which starred Adrianne Palicki. "Let's talk about this for a second. You have very few female superheroes dominating films these days, unless they're in a skin tight outfit and their boobs are pushed up to their chin. It's not okay," Alexander said. "All she does is sit and eat ice cream while she's crying over a boy. I know that never aired, but that's what the script said."

However, she has some advice for how to properly bring Wonder Woman to life: Make it like the Bourne film franchise. "There needs to be a positive role model. If you're going to make 'Wonder Woman,' make it like 'The Bourne Supremacy,'" she said. "Let's do something awesome like that. Like 'Alias.' That was a fantastic show. Why can't we do that? Why does she have to be in hot pants and spandex? I get it, it's visually stunning for half of the people, but at least make her grow a pair!"

Personally, I would love to see Jaimie Alexander play Wonder Woman, even though she's playing a similar character (Lady Sif) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and my #1 choice for Diana Prince is Gina Carano. It is true that the character hasn't been properly adapted yet. Fingers crossed the Wonder Woman in Warner Bros.' Justice League and/or a solo movie will be the one we deserve. Another Wonder Woman television pilot, Amazon, is in development at The CW.

You can next see Jaimie Alexander in action in The Last Stand, which hits theaters January 18th. You can also see her as Lady Sif again in Thor: The Dark World on November 8th.
