JURASSIC PARK IV Gets A 2014 Release Date!

While no director is attached yet, Universal Pictures has announced that the long in-development fourth film in the Jurassic Park series will finally be released in the summer of 2014, and will be shot in 3D. Steven Spielberg is also confirmed to produce.

2014 is already a big year for movies, and we just entered 2013. Godzilla, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, Transformers 4, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, The Hobbit: There And Back Again and many other big budget films are all set for a summer release that year. Now, we can add another movie to the list: Jurassic Park IV. Universal Pictures has announced that the fourth installment in the popular dinosaur franchise will arrive in theaters June 13th, 2014. While he isn't planning to direct, Steven Spielberg (who helmed the first two installments) is on board as producer. The film will be shot in 3D, which isn't surprising since the original Jurassic Park will be re-released in 3D on April 5th. Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes scribes Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver wrote the most recent draft of the script, and turned it in this week. A director is currently not attached to Jurassic Park IV, but it has been speculated that, since Robopocalypse has recently been delayed, Spielberg could very well return to the director's chair (Despite saying that he will only produce). Who would you like to see direct Jurassic Park IV?

It's been so long since I have seen the first 3 that I cannot really remember too much of the details...I might need to have another look at them before 2014...

With all the advancement in CGI and so forth...These Dinosaurs should look shit hot though...

The original is my all time favorite movie. I love all the Jurassic Park movies and been wanting a fourth since I saw the third in the theater when I was five. I can't wait for it!!! I love this year.

@Levi: Well, it could be good. We can't judge if we don't know the story. While I am excited for the fourth, I do think Jurassic Park 3 ended it perfectly as a trilogy. I actually don't think The Lost World and JP3 were bad. I still think they are really good. But, Jurassic Park is the best. Never read the books and never will. Also, whatya mean you'd watch The Avengers if you wanted to watch a film with no script and mindless CGI action? The Avengers is a hell of alot more than what the haters say it is. I personally feel it's the best comicbook film to date.

@Levi: Ah lol ok. I understand now and I completely agree. Hell, Jurassic Park is my favorite movie franchise. I had myself a Jurassic Park marathon back in december and I could not have made myself any happier. It's my all time favorite trilogy. Again, I am so excited for Jurassic Park 4 but like you, I don't want to see this franchise ruined. But, I can't help but be interested to see where they are taking the franchise. I just hope it's the last one so it can die as a good franchise and it can rest in peace.

Another thing, I'm glad is going to be shot in 3D instead of post conversion.

I never got all the hate for The Lost World. Just saw it again the other night for the first time in a while, and I still really enjoy it. As for the 3rd one...

First was good
Second was terrible
Third was terrible

as to why second was bad take your pick, the above mentioned teen girl sumersaulting a raptor thru a wall, the fact the crichton him self said it had no plot, and lets not forget the dumb godzilla scene at the end when t-rex was running thru the streets

the third one, William H Macey was unable to save that movie. Pterodactyls opening doors????. maybe this is in need a of a reboot.

Wow... well I hope this more than makes up for JP3. I loved the first movie, and I really enjoyed Lost World.

JP3 was a huge let down. I was all excited for it because they brought Alan Grant back, but we all know how the movie turned out.
