Bruce Boxleitner Talks TRON: UPRISING And The Possibility Of Returning For TRON 3

Speaking with Coventry Telegraph, Bruce Boxleitner discusses the possibility of appearing in Disney's TRON: Legacy sequel, which was recently confirmed to be moving forward. Despite being seemingly confirmed for a return as the original Tron, the actor isn't certain if he will reprise the role again. "I don't know. They say yes, they say no. It's way above my pay grade to be able to tell you that. It's still a money-maker for them (Disney), and it's still a great franchise. They announced it at San Diego Comic-Con, so I'm not speaking out of school here, but it's in development, and development can take a while. We've got to get that creative team back again. I do know they're working on the story concepts and stuff like that." Recently, it was confirmed that the threequel is on the fast track, with a new screenwriter on board and Garrett Hedlund expected to reprise his role as Sam Flynn.

Additionally, Boxleitner shares his thoughts on Disney XD's animated series TRON: Uprising, in which he voices Tron. "It does not insult you, and I think for very small children it will go right over their heads, but visually, I think it's very exciting. I love the stylisation of it. I couldn't have had a better chin made for me. I have the greatest chin! I could go through a wall with that chin! What I love about it is Tron has aged as Bruce Boxleitner has aged. He's not the young Tron of the first movie; he's a more battle weary, older, experienced version, which I am of my former self!" Recently, it was rumored that the series would not be renewed for a second season, but producer Edward Kitsis then stated that the series "needed more viewers" if another season would be ordered. It's not cancelled. It's on hiatus. They want more viewers and are trying to figure that out. If they are truely moving forward with a new movie, they will want to keep Uprising going as well to get people interested.

It isn't cancelled and honestly as long as they give it a decent ending, I don't care because it's been fantastic and would be great to just have a complete series of something that doesn't end in a stupid cliffhanger because of cancellation.

theres no way a show like that can survive, itd certainly be confusing for kids, but the fact that kids seem to enjoy it, and they decided to move it to monday at noon. There target audience is in freaking school when it airs.

All Tron 3 needs is a better script. The outline and everything else in "Legacy" delivered.., it's definitely worth multiple viewings! The dialogue was on par with what a ten year old son of a producer would generate if given a "really special birthday weekend.?"

In under maybe 2 min of screen time, Murphy was able to give presence prior to the unnecessary shout out his cameo got. I'd love to see him in the sequel playing the full-on villain.

@Gambit89 He might have shown hesitation because they were close. They 3 worked together to build the new grid and he was the spitting image and creation of the User.He wasn't sure if he should "dead him" right away.

I just watched Tron: Uprising. Fantastic show! I would pay money to see another season, for sure! Check it out on Netflix - it's available for streaming.
