Here's some disappointing news for fans of The Hub's hit series Transformers Prime. According to Kidscreen Magazine (via TFormers), this spring's third season (titled Beast Hunters) will be the conclusion of the show. Additionally, it has been revealed that a new Transformers animated series is in the works, and will launch in late 2014 after Michael Bay's fourth entry in the movie series releases that summer. Below is the full report on the news. Do you plan on watching this new Transformers series, and how do you feel about Prime ending?

As for Hasbro's established stable of series, which drive the programming on its US joint venture network The Hub, the 13 episodes of Transformers Prime Beast Hunters due to launch this year represent the final chapter of the Transformers Prime story. It has grown to encompass 65 half-hour episodes that continue to roll out around the world. Look for a 75-minute Transformers Prime Beast Hunters movie to hit DVD shelves in Q4.

But that's not the end for Transformers. Arnesen says a "new iteration of the animated TV series" is slated for delivery in late 2014, which looks like it might be shaping up to be the year of the Autobots, given that audiences are already expecting the fourth live-action blockbuster in July.

I'm not understanding why networks are canceling shows only to replace the show with basically the same exact show.

@Hellsing

the show is awesome in some areas, and average in other ones.
the animation is just top notch, the action is intense and very cinematic (puts Michael Bay to shame),the voice acting is awesome (most of the part),it's a pretty dark show too (some pretty gruesome deaths, even if they're robots),but is also lighthearted when it needs to be (friendship and stuff, the usual),and it can be pretty damn funny at times (LOL kind of funny).

buuut the storytelling can be...questionable at times: plot threads that are either forgotten or teased for a good time only to be resolved in one episode, and very easily. and some characters (specially Arcee) are somewhat developed only to devolve in another episode.

but it is enjoyable overall,I'd say give it a watch someday.

@Spidey so it's pretty much like every saturday morning toon show from my childhood. Sounds decent might give the first 3 episodes a go.

I forgot to mention: the ending of season 2 was one of the biggest "Holy f*cking sh*t!" moments in a Transformers cartoon, and I have watched almost all of them.

@JatevinM, that's kinda what they've always done with Transformers. They continuously end and start new series.

In the last decade, there have been 5 separate series. Armada/Energon, Cybertron, Animated, Prime and Rescue Bots.

I guess that's the key to the longevity of the franchise. End one series and immediately start a new one. Each incarnation rarely goes past 3 seasons.

I guess it's on to the next one.

All these shows have a short run rate because little kids do not have a long attention span if you ask me!

I use to love Transformers Armada and Beast Wars, stop watching anything Transformers related after that until I saw Megan Fox's ass in the Tranformers trailer (yeah I aint afraid to admit that)then I saw the movie, which wasn't too bad, it was decent and then the sequel dropped and boy was that bad. So what I was trying to ask is are any of the shows after Armada any good.

Is it going to be a sequel show or an entirely new universe all over again?

Original 80's series never went past 3 series...

Guess its not to Hasbro's advantage to go beyond 3 series...remember Transformers cartoons are all about selling toys...

seriously their gonna just up and cancel this show? it took me a while before i got into transformers prime, but i got to say it was a really great show, i hope they are able to tie all of the loose ends in just 13 episodes.
and i really wish they could re-do the pilot episode of beast wars with this animation.

micheal bay you have stopped stopped production of a great transformers series......your movie better be worth it.

@hellsing Armada was a hard act to follow, even tho the animation of transformers energon and cybertron didn't fit well, story wise they played in with armada quite well.

if you can get past the look of both Transformers:Animated and Transformers:prime they are really great shows. Animated had a lot of references to old shows like G1 and even beast wars. Prime brings a darker element and touches upon the war on cybertron. personally i thought both were great shows. i think hasbro should look into making animated films like DC.........but a man can dream

as for the news of the series ending, what ever follows has big shoes to fill, especially if bay plans on releasing a film on par with his last two.

@SuperSomething616

Yeah but the G1 seasons 2, 3, 4 were 82 episodes total.

This could be ok, or it could become a Spectacular Spider-Man to Ultimate Spider-Man situation. Hopefully the former...

@YoungThanos: +1 Just do a show based on the IDW comics. Enough with this spiky Transformers crap.

@TrollHunter, like I said above, it's what they've always done. The current Transformers series runs for however long it runs, they end it and then start a whole new series in a new universe/continuity the next year or so. This isn't anything new and doesn't really play into the recent rash of networks canceling shows.

The Transformers franchise is built to continuously be rebooted. And that's what they've done.

Beast Wars (1996-1999)
Beast Machines (1999-2000)
Robots in Disguise (2000-2001)
Armada (2003)
Energon (2004)
Cybertron (2005)
Animated (2007-2009)
Prime (2010-2013)
Rescue Bots (2012-20??)
New Series (2014-20??)

That's how it's worked for the last 17 years. This was to be expected.

Sometimes the writing is great, other times disappointing. But what the show does have is some of The Best voice acting for any animated english language program. Peter Cullen, Frank Welker, Steve Blum, Jeffrey Combs, Darran Norris, Tony Todd.. all fantastic

I do not think it is an awesome show, I enjoy it and yes it is aimed ay kids but the kids in the show sometimes ruin it for me, the advancement of making jack more important is growing on me, but raph and his mystic ability to understand bumblebee (who should have been fixed in 2 seasons) is annoying. over all it is enjoyable. although was strange that earth is actually unicron, that was new and still not sure where i stand on it.

I am quite sad it ends...I love transformers , have since 2007, but TF Prime is just about all the TF I can get these days since I´ve come to hate what IDW has done to the comics. Transformers without humans is a no-go for me but I get my fill from Prime. Love the graphics and the voice-acting :D

You're kidding me right? THAT Was the ending?!? No.. Hell no. If that was the ending, I might as well unplug my computer and throw it into the pits of Kayon! If they don't continue this series at least under a different name, but with the same cast and the same actors.. I. Will. Be. Pissed. I think I may even give up on electronics and just quit my life... Hear that Jeff Kline? ARE YOU LISTENING?!?!? I am a huge fan of the new CGI series and don't want to see it go. I'll definitely have to wait until Comic Con 2014 to see if all of our lives will end.
