Akira Takarada Will Appear In New GODZILLA Film

Via the film's official Facebook page, Legendary Pictures has released the following set photo from their anticipated Godzilla reboot. The image features director Gareth Edwards alongside none other than Japanese actor Akira Takarada, who starred as Hideto Ogata in the original 1954 Godzilla film and appeared other installments in the long running franchise (including Mothra Vs. Godzilla and the last movie, 2004's Godzilla: Final Wars). There is currently no word on how big a role Takarada has in the currently-shooting reboot, but you can check out the image below.

Godzilla stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston. The film is set to hit theaters May 16th, 2014.

Gareth Edwards look like a mix between Tobey Maguire and a kindergartner.

Epic, it shows the people involved are concerned with representating Godzilla properly by paying an homage to the original

Excellent news! This is the kind of respect that Hollywood should always be having when they reboot classic movies & icons, especially such a classic monster film icon as Godzilla.

I'm starting to have more faith in this film now that they actually have Japanese actors in it like Ken Watanabe and Akira Takarada

I love that. I just hope they don't screw up Godzilla's look.
